March 2016
Greetings!

Before getting into the corned beef and potatoes of this March message to you, we want to alert you to an important policy change at the library:

Beginning on March 1, the DVDs borrowing period is now one week (plus one renewal, if needed). The limit of 2 DVDs per household is still in effect.

There is much to celebrate in March, with the start of Spring, St. Patrick's Day and Easter all in the last third of the month.  The library has much to offer this month as well!  We are preparing for our second annual Run for Reading, which will be held April 24.  Runners and walkers can sign up now at the reduced race fee and guarantee yourself a t-shirt!

We have two programs dedicated to Irish Heritage at the end of the month. Ian Gallagher will croon Irish and Celtic tunes on March 23, and one week later, on March 30, Michael Jesberger will talk about the role of the Irish in the American Civil War.

Swing by the library in the middle of the month to take advantage of our Almost Spring Book Sale on March 14-19.  Nazareth Book Group and Friends of the Library are meeting this month - get connected to others in the community through these 2 core library groups.

Be sure to check out all the links to our programs and services below for dates and details!

Sincerely
The Memorial Library of Nazareth & Vicinity Staff.

Drop-In Library Programs for the Wee Ones
No registration is required for our weekly children's programming!

WEE Build is a held every  Monday morning from 10:30-noon in the Children's Room for toddlers and preschoolers to create, imagine and share with our diverse collection of building toys. Through play, your child is discovering shapes, learning how blocks can be balanced, observing how they fall and discovering what fits together. These playful explorations are the foundation of later mathematical and scientific thinking - plus it's fun! This program was made possible through the Cruise into Kindergarten program grant from Commonwealth Libraries.

Toddler Shake 'n Boogie is held on  Tuesdays from 10:30 to 11:00  in the Library's living room. It is an active 30 minutes full of movement and music for toddlers and their caregivers to enjoy together.

STORYTIMES are at various times throughout the week. For the youngest (ages 4 months to 24 months) we have  Baby and Me which emphasizes nursery rhymes, songs, and the joy of books. It is also a chance for parents, caregivers and babies to socialize. It is held on  Wednesdays at 11:15  in the Children's Room at the Library as well as
Thursday mornings at 10:00 in the former Lower Nazareth Municipal Building at 306 Butztown Road

Read to Me storytime is geared towards toddlers and preschoolers. It emphasizes interactive stories, songs, finger plays and books. It is held in the Children's Room on
Tuesdays at 1:00, Wednesdays at 10:00 and 10:45, and  Thursdays at 10:00 and 10:45 .  In addition, Read to Me is offered at the Lower Nazareth location (  306 Butztown Road ) on  Thursdays at 10:45 .

All storytimes are 30 minutes in length and do not require pre-registration. Parents and/or caregivers are requested to participate with their children. Click here for a printable storytime schedule.
