Words from Weisner
Friday, September 20, is our “half-way” point for the First Quarter. If there are any academic concerns regarding student progress in any of the content areas, the classroom teachers will be sending a form (via mail)  to parents that indicates that a child has not (to this point in Quarter 1) met the standard. This gives parents an idea of student work and academic progress with ample time in the quarter to improve. As always, student work/portfolios are sent home for parents to review.  In addition, if there are any questions, feel free to contact the teacher.
We just completed Parent Information Night for First Communion and Confirmation. As primary educators for your children, we are always supportive of your role in regard to religious preparation and information. As the year progresses, you will continue to be informed of sacramental preparation.
Until next week,
Janet Weisner

Thank you for making out first mum sale such a great success!

Creative Activities Program (CAP ) is in need of volunteers to help lead clubs for the fall sessions.Clubs are open to grades 1-8 and one day a week after school from approximately 3:00 to 4:00. The fall session dates are from Oct. 7 to Nov. 15. Please consider giving an hour per week on the day of your choice to lead a club. This would be a great way to earn volunteer hours and can be anything from Legos to gardening to science club. I am happy to help with any ideas and materials to get your club started. We also will reimburse you for all materials used.
Our students really enjoy participating in after school clubs but it is essential for parent involvement to keep these clubs going.
Please contact Jasmine Williams at by Sept. 27 if you are interested. Potential ideas: Archery, Board games, Dodgeball, Lego (CAP has a large collection of Legos for use), Puzzles, Rocket Building/STEM, Sewing
Come Play With Us! – The St. Catharine Playground Fundraiser has raised over $183,000 for the new playground. We anticipate ordering the equipment soon and the goal is to have it installed in late Fall. Due to the shortfall of the goal of $200,000, there will be some changes made from the original aspirational plans. The cost of equipment, installation, & surfacing is $180,000; however, to ensure the longevity of the playground, we must install a drainage system which may cost approximately $20,000.  Watch the Insider for updates as the project progresses. Thank you to everyone for your generous support of this project!
