Words From Weisner
Today begins Ash Wednesday. The students will be receiving ashes on this day to remind them of the season of Lent and a time of prayer. The classes will also be discussing this season during their Religion times. In addition, beginning on Friday, March 6, the students will rotate through Stations of the Cross on Friday afternoons. They are held at 2:20 and parents are always welcome to join us!

Thank you to our Grade 2 and 3 parents who joined us this week for Student-Led Conferences on Tuesday. The students are always eager to share their thoughts, work, and goals. Grades 1 and Kindergarten will have their student-led conferences in the late spring. Information on the date will be sent out later in March.

Special thanks for all our parents who have generously given their time, energy and patience for the Creative Activities Program that has been happening each day of the week between January 27 and March 6. Archery, Irish Step Dance, Drama, Bucket Drumming, Newspaper, Science, and Kindness clubs have certainly provided a wide range of opportunities for enrichment. The parents and other adults who have donated their time and experience are: Kayleigh March, Mrs. Heyer and Mrs. Labita, Jakki Carson and Mrs. Elliott, Mrs. Carmon, Mrs. McFadden, Gini Ryan and Kendra Ryan, and Mr. and Mrs. Casto. Thanks to all for sharing your time and talent!

Until Next Week,
Janet Weisner

Preschool News
The Busy Bees are talking about problem solving. Young kids (and older ones and grown-ups) often need a lot of support to work through problems that arise in daily life. At four-and-five years old, they are building a foundation of problem-solving strategies that they will draw from throughout their lives. We want to guide them toward becoming independent thinkers and doers. We also tend to ask more questions than provide answers: "What can you do about that?", "What can you say to him/her?", "How can you fix this problem?" When we respond to young kids this way, we send the message that they are capable problem-solvers. Your children are creative, smart, and capable!  This weeks problem was "How can we build an Igloo out of milk jugs?" The children worked together to create a plan for building it and developed solutions when their plans didn't work out.
