Irish Insider

February 5,2020
Thanks to all in the school community who helped to make Catholic Schools Week a successful event! I appreciate the parents, Advisory Board members, Student Council members and teachers who assisted with the Open House on Sunday, January 26.

We had a beautiful Enthronement of the Sacred Heart on Wednesday. Father Dury had our school Mass followed by the installation on the first floor of the school. All of our students were present for this installation and it was very moving to hear them praying together as a school community.

Friday was an extremely busy day at school. We started the day by having our 8 th grade students present their information on a specific virtue to all grade levels. Classes moved around the school to hear of these virtues from the students in the 8 th grade. Their information was beautifully done and their presentations were so appropriate for each grade level! Bosco sticks for the Feast of St. John Bosco were served for lunch in the cafeteria. The afternoon was the 8 th grade vs. faculty volleyball game . It was a really fun event for everyone at the school as the 8 th grade won by a small margin. Thanks to Fr. Dury for being our MC for the game!

Thanks to all our parents and students who participated in our “ Penny Wars ” during Catholic Schools Week. It was a great competition and the 2 nd grade students won for the most pennies! $2,221.53 was collected through this event. It will certainly go a long way in assisting the Harmony Projec t which works within the Columbus community as an outreach to those in need. A special thanks to the following parents who spent endless hours on Friday wrapping a massive amount of pennies that came in on Friday for deposit in the bank:
           Nell Vitale
           Stephanie Roscoe
           Matt and Alysia Plank
           Sonya Grzybicki
           Kim Frencho
Until Next Week,

Janet Weisner

Progress!! Things are moving onward & upward. Under perfect conditions, the playground installation is estimated to take 2-3 weeks. However, weather will definitely affect this timeframe & most like extend it. Also, a quick note on the new location of the playground...all uses of the field were considered when determining the playground location. A new layout for all athletics fields was developed that allows for all sports played at St. Catharine...don’t be confused by the football goal posts, they are no longer used & will be removed. The football/large sport field will be relocated to the southeast section of the field. Details to come regarding a ribbon cutting dedication & blessing ceremony.
