Thoughts with Mr. Watts
I am not a huge Star Wars fan, but back in November, I added the Mandalorian to my watch list. I still haven't had the opportunity to watch an episode. But, one day, I guess.

One of the catch phrases from the series is, "This is the Way." The release of season 2 at the end of this month got me thinking about this phrase and the path we are all on.

We lost our summer in order to find the way in which we would be opening our school. And, we know that regardless of opinion, we will continue on this path of keeping our children safe and continuously improving educational opportunities for them.

Students, teachers, staff, and parents have all been on the same journey and the way has not changed. We all have the responsibility of keeping our community safe. We all have invested in the educational process of our students.

When Thomas asked Jesus how they would know the way, Jesus had to explain he wasn't referring to physical directions, but a way of life. We know the way. Be proud of all that we, especially our students, have accomplished thus far.
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.”

Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?”

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
-John 14:1-6

Food & Coat Drive
So many around us are struggling and we want to continue to reach out as a parish family offering help. Your generosity has been amazing and is still needed! This drive we’re adding gently-used coats, hats, scarves and gloves to the list, as these are critically needed as the weather turns cold.

Friday, Oct. 23rd from 10:45 – 11am & from 3:15 – 3:30pm in the Dismissal Pick-Up Line.

Enter the car pick-up line from Bexley Park and stop at the Garage on the right hand side (across from the church). Put donations in your trunk and members of our 8th grade class will take the items out of your trunk and transport them to the garage. Please stay in your vehicle.

Suggested food donations: Canned fruits and vegetables, peanut butter, jelly, baby food, canned tuna, salmon or chicken, soups, canned meals/stews, pasta, pasta sauce, rice, meals in a box, granola bars, baked beans, pet food, paper products, and personal care items.

We’re also collecting donations for Thanksgiving Food Bags which will be given next month: Mashed potato flakes, stuffing, canned yams, gravy jars, cranberry sauce, and canned vegetables.
We also need Medium to large boxes to transport donations and Gently used coats, hats, scarves and gloves, all sizes infant – adult.

Sharing from our homes to the homes of others is a beautiful way of sharing our faith in Christ. Thank you for making a difference to many who are struggling.

Did You Know?
This is a way to learn about things that can make your St Catharine School life just a little easier. Hints and tricks you may or may not know. Do you have a question or comment regarding something you want to know about or something you want others to know about? Send it to and we will feature it in the "Did You Know?" section.

Did you know we have an amazing and very active Home & School Association?
The St. Catharine Home & School Association exists to support the mission of St. Catharine School and the families of students who attend. Home & School strives to bring the school and school families together in several ways:

The Back to School Ice Cream Social, Buddy Family Program, Classroom Gifts at Christmas, and Teacher Appreciation Week are just a few of the ways Home and School helps to foster a sense of community and friendship at St. Catharine School.

Volunteers serve in the classroom, cafeteria, playground, and more. Through our Creative Activities Program, volunteers also lead the amazing after school programs offered in the Fall, Winter, and Spring. Please see our Volunteers page to make sure you have completed the steps to be a volunteer at the school.

Home & School coordinates the Spring and Fall Uniform Swap, which allows families to save money on the cost of uniforms. The Caller, Spirit Wear sales, P.E. uniform sales, and the annual School Supply Sale are other programs offered for the convenience of St. Catharine families.

Funds raised support the school in a variety of ways: tuition assistance, buses for field trips, teacher wish lists, bonuses at Christmas, Teacher Appreciation Week, 8th Grade trip assistance, fingerprinting fees for the Protecting God’s Children Program, the Caller, and other Special Projects (i.e. Media Center remodel, bathroom renovation, equipment needed for the cafeteria, landscaping, & signs).

A few of the fundraisers each year include:
  • Community Night
  • Fall Tailgate Party
  • Night At The Races
  • Monster Dash 5K
  • Wreath Sale
  • Rummage Sale
  • Mumkin Sale
  • Flower Sale

The St. Catharine Home & School Association is led by a board of volunteer parents who are elected each Spring by school parents. Generally, the board meets on the 2nd Tuesday of each month during the school year at 6:00 pm in the St. Catharine School media center. Everyone is welcome to attend the meetings.

There are many other ways to get involved with Home & School. Opportunities are available to fit every schedule, whether during the day, evening, or on weekends. Most opportunities take place at the school, but some may be accomplished from your home or office.

This is a communication from St. Catharine Athletic Association

Parents and Coaches,

We are expecting to have a decision by the Diocese on how the upcoming basketball season will operate by the end of this month. Your patience during this time is very much appreciated as details, guidelines and protocols are finalized. The State of Ohio, OHSAA, and NFHS have not provided any guidelines at this time. Once these guidelines are finalized and published, the Diocese is hopeful in sending out a uniform set of guidelines to all parishes and then we will be able to finalize our program for a fun and safe basketball season. Registration is currently open. We will be suspending the participation fee until the guidelines noted above are finalized.
