Thoughts with Mr. Watts
May you be strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy. - Colossians 1:11
St. Catharine School Families:

Ash Wednesday begins the Season of Lent and although it may not look that way outside, so does the hope of Spring. Even for our children, Lent is a time for more frequent prayer, giving up what keeps us more distant from God, and giving of ourselves to others. Lent is the most opportune time to tune out the noise in our lives and focus on the love and grace of God through the sacrifice of His son.

As a school community, we have preserved through many challenges. We can take pride in the fact that we have stayed the course while consistently looking at ways to improve. We have had faith in the plan and trusted the process. In this, I am reminded of two of my favorite verses from the Psalms:

I have set the Lord always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken. - Psalm 16:8

He only is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be shaken. - Psalm 62:6

As we look ahead to the coming months, it is important for us to make decisions based on what is best for our entire school community. The school safety response to this pandemic is constantly evolving and the interpretation of safety recommendations seem varied. We will, however, reconvene our Re-Opening Task Force next week to look at all factors in our school operations objectively.

It is no secret that all students, parents, and teachers are looking forward to the day we can return to a normal school day without jeopardizing safety. How soon that determination is made is something we will not take lightly. In the meantime, we must continue to persevere and provide the best learning opportunities for our students with the opportunity we are given.

We will never stop looking for ways to do what is best for our students.

Yours in Christ,

Mark Watts
But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.
- Romans 8:25
And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. - Galatians 6:9
