Thoughts with Mr.Watts
St. Catharine Families:

We are getting closer to the start of the school year and I cannot tell you how blessed we are to have such an incredible, dedicated faculty and staff here at St. Catharine. I can attest everyone is working extremely hard to create a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment for our students. Thank you for having faith in our school and believing in the mission we try to live everyday.

“Faith is to believe what you do not see. The reward of faith is to see what you believe.” St. Augustine of Hippo

Morning/ Afternoon Class Split
Below are links to the AM & PM class splits for this year. This was a time-consuming process and I appreciate your patience. It is important to split classes as evenly as possible to adhere to CDC recommendations for each class.

One of the key elements in this endeavor was having enough families with scheduling flexibility to help even out the learning groups. This is another example of our school community showing solidarity to those with more rigid work schedules and longer commutes.

We genuinely tried to honor all requests and kept from moving students from their preferences to a minimum.

Please do not share or post the class rosters with anyone.

Distance Learning Option Survey
Tomorrow, Friday, August 21st, you will receive a Distance Learning Survey. Only fill out this survey if in fact, your child will be participating in on-line learning during our Tier 2 Blended Learning Model. Parents will need to commit to online learning for 4-weeks.

Final Reopening Plan
The 3rd and final version of our reopening plan will be completed after our 5th and final task force meeting tonight. I want to personally thank the task force members for their commitment of keeping our students and staff safe. This plan will be sent out to our families and posted to our website early next week.

Digital Academy Parent On-boarding
We are still waiting for a few updates from Digital Academy. We will be sending verification information by the end of next week. This will give families the opportunity to verify information, access resources, and virtually sign important documents.

Welcome Deacon Augustine Ampofo

Transitional Deacon Intern at St. Catharine

Deacon Augustine Aristotle Twumasi Ampofo joins St. Catharine from Ghana, West Africa and the Archdiocese of Kumasi, Ghana. He spent his final two years of seminary formation and education at the Pontifical College Josephinum in Worthington, and was set to return to Ghana to be ordained as a priest, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic he is unable to return home. He was the first candidate ever to be ordained by Bishop Robert Brennan, and prior to joining us he was assigned as a deacon to St. Anthony Parish in Columbus. He is the last of five children. Deacon Augustine enjoys reading, praying, and exercising, and he loves Our Lady, the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and the Blessed Sacrament.
