Hello Friends...
Earlier this month, at dusk, I took the above photo of Heron Lake.
What a photo...right? The serenity, brilliance, and quiet of this moment felt like I was on a special planet, in a galaxy far, far away. It reminded me of the movie musical Brigadoon. It was made in the 1950's (for all you whippersnappers who have no idea what I am talking about) so the film quality is more ethereal and the colors rich and vibrant. The story line also fits in with this extraordinary place. Here is a quote from the synopsis of the story of Brigadoon from Wikipedia:
"To protect Brigadoon from being changed by the outside world, 200 years ago, the local minister prayed to have Brigadoon disappear, only to reappear for one day every 100 years. All citizens of Brigadoon are forbidden to leave the town, or it will disappear forever. Tommy asks hypothetically if an outsider could be permitted to stay. Mr. Lundie replies, "A stranger can stay if he loves someone here – not jus' Brigadoon, mind ye, but someone in Brigadoon – enough to want to give up everythin' an' stay with that one person. Which is how it should be. 'Cause after all, lad, if ye love someone deeply, anythin' is possible.."
Romantic...right? Well, my sweetheart and I are going to Heron Lake a lot these days...we all need a place that feels or maybe is, protected. Heron certainly is. Elk, deer, wild turkeys, fox, eagles, hawks, geese, ducks, mountain lions and bears roam free...and so does my soul!
AND...Brigadoon took place in Scotland, which is fitting, as, by the time you read this, I will be in Ireland...hence the title of this newsletter! I have not hopped across the pond for 25 years and I am so ready! I am taking a much deserved break from work and study to dive deeply into GREEN: Irish eyes, Danny Boy, names with too many consonants, and the best friends on the planet.
Below are my summer offerings. I will be back to teaching at the end of the first week of June. And, as always, my video library has classes to rent if you need a hit anytime day or night!
Finally, keep scrolling if you are interested in participating in my Feldenkrais Functional Integration bodywork practicum. Check out my Feldenkrais page on my website to learn more about the method.
I am off to pack my bags...
Sending love to all
Lisa
