Grand Marshal

Mateo Messina

Grammy-Winning Composer Mateo Messina Named Grand Marshal for Seattle's St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Messina, whose Irish roots trace back to Counties Mayo, Wexford, Clare and Fermanagh, has had an illustrious career, highlighted by a Grammy for his work on the film “Juno”.

Beyond his cinematic achievements, Messina has, since the age of 23, composed and premiered more than 24 symphonies at Benaroya Hall, raising an impressive $2,000,000 for Seattle Children’s Hospital.

Honorary Grand Marshals

Jane Sepede & Dean Arnold

The Irish Heritage Club is proud to announce Jane Sepede and Dean Arnold as the 2024 Honorary Grand Marshals for the 53rd annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Irish Week festivities.

Like our Grand Marshal, Jane is a second generation Irish-Italian, born and raised in New Jersey, where she worked as a teacher and corporate training manager. Eventually, she followed her adventurous spirit and drove west for what was to be a year of volunteer work but turned into 30 years as a student and social worker with the elderly. Jane retired in 2020.

Dean is a lifelong Seattleite and graduate of the University of Washington. He retired from the City of Seattle after 32-years as the director of Information Technology and still owns and manages a 911 data processing firm.

Volunteer work has always played a large role in both their lives. Jane has held positions as the Membership Secretary, the Secretary for 20 years, and Chairperson of the Mayor’s Proclamation Luncheon since 2004. Dean has consistently assisted Jane with her Irish Club duties and events for the past 23 years as the behind the scenes support and creative mastermind.
