Coastal Racing's GNCC season is in the books! Round 13 wrapped up the grand championship in dramatic fashion at Ironman Raceway in Crawfordsville, ID. A turn for the worse with weather Saturday night saw one of the worst mud races we've seen in recent memory, taming the race down to just two hours on a highly modified course.
Ricky Russell #212 got off to the holeshot early, but like many others, submerging the bike in one of many rivers on course led to a DNF. Johnny Girroir #969 also succumbed to bike issues due to the extreme amounts of water, leading to a DNF. Ryder Lafferty #13 battled up front all race long, starting with the holeshot and eventually finishing 3rd XC2 and 5th Overall after five laps of racing.
Lane Whitmer #587 tried his best and never gave up in the tough conditions, but his lack of experience in conditions like we saw at Ironman held him back to just 11th in 4-Stroke A Lites. Lastly, Shawn Remington #63 showed consistent speed and attrition all race long to grab his second win of the season in the 40+ A class.
