Irving Recreation Center
After School Newsletter
Dear Irving family,
Welcome!
Irving Recreation Center, conveniently located adjacent to Irving Middle School, is managed by the City of Lincoln Parks and Recreation Department. While we serve the entire Lincoln community with a variety of programs and services, our primary goal during after school time is to address the wide range of interests and needs of middle school students. Our after school program meets the high youth development standards of the Lincoln Parks and Recreation Department. Typically this newsletter would have a monthly calendar to highlight the clubs that we offer. Unfortunately, all clubs have been postponed for the first quarter. we will still offer some sort of activity that your student can participate. Typically that will be activities that we can complete while maintaining social distance. Please read below the health measure that are in place for the safety of all patrons of the facility.

Irving Recreation Center is available exclusively to Irving Middle School students from school dismissal until 5:00 p.m.

Irving Recreation Center ensures a safe, supervised environment where students can be involved in positive activities and our standards for behavior are high. Young people who use the center are expected to be safe, respectful and responsible. Rule infractions and misbehavior may result in removal of privileges.
The Basics
Students must follow all Health measure requirements. (See Health Measures below)

Students must sign in by 3:15 p.m.; otherwise, they must have a pass from a teacher or come from school-sponsored intramurals.

Students cannot enter the Rec. Center on another student's punch card.

To account for everyone's safety, loitering and/or waiting for rides outside the Rec. Center is not allowed.

Once students choose to leave the Rec. Center, they cannot return.

Students may remain after 5 p.m. Monday-Friday; we open to the public at that time.

Irving Recreation Center closes at 7 PM Monday through Thursdays and 6 PM on Fridays. Students must be picked up or begin walking home at that time.

Positive Youth Development
Irving Recreation Center is dedicated to offering young people the supports and experiences necessary to grow up happy and successful. We do this through child and youth recreation programming, by advocating for young people, and sharing valuable information with parents and others in our community. Each month's email from the rec. center will include ideas for how everyone can respond to the changes and challenges of raising our kids in positive, healthy ways.

As of right now LPS has postponed all clubs for middle school students for the first quarter. We will hope to have more information about clubs in early October.
Required Registration and Payment
All students must fill out a Membership form and av additional required waiver before registration is complete. Signed paperwork can be emailed to knitz@lincoln.ne.gov.
