For the Staff of Irving Public Library

Sept. 13 - 25, 2022

Vol. 3, No. 18

Spotlight: Valley Ranch Library

During Hispanic Heritage Month, traditional folk art meets modern technology at the Valley Ranch Library MiY Zone. The decorative art of papel picado, "pierced paper," is created by cutting elaborate designs into tissue paper. From Sept. 15-Oct. 15, adults are invited to use the Valley Ranch laser etcher to make their own papel picado creations. The MiY Zone will have design files, instructions and materials available while supplies last. No registration is required.

  • Lamberti’s Ristorante & Wine Bar, 7701 N. MacArthur Blvd.
  • Our Place, 8150 N. MacArthur Blvd., #150

On the Calendar

Fiesta on Sept. 17 at South Irving Library commemorates Hispanic Heritage Month with live music, crafts, paletas, snacks, prizes and more.

The North Texas Giving Day campaign is active through Sept. 22. This year's mission for the Friends of the Irving Public Library is to raise funds to bring more early literacy stations for ages 2-8 to the library.

Tech Tip

At times, a staff member may be searching for Inet or ExecuTime/Munis Employee Self-Service on an unfamiliar work computer. Since neither site is accessible through an internet search, the City of Irving website at cityofirving.org is the place to start:

  • Scroll to the bottom of the home page and click on “Employee Resources."
  • Scroll to the menu bar at the middle of the page to the heading for the current "Fiscal Year 2021-2022."
  • Select the "More Resources" tab on the right.
  • Scroll to the heading "City Employee-Only Websites and Resources."
