Change Is a Good Thing for PCEF Classroom Grants

Nearly $300,000 in programs awarded for next school year!

Fund a Grant. Empower a Teacher.
It seems obvious now, but in the past there weren't many educators or students on PCEF's Classroom Grant committee. This pandemic year brought into sharp focus a need to change to best support the classroom experience.

Six educators, two students, and a former PCSD student who is now an educator, were on the Classroom Grant committee this spring!

“The lens that educators and students bring to the decision-making process is unique and relevant. These are the folks who are in the classroom every day, who will directly benefit from these requests. Their experience informs the decisions about what is funded, elevating donor gifts to make the most impact.”

Seniors Nominate Their Most Influential Teacher
The Sarah & Stephen Doilney Award, voted on by the Senior Class at Park City High, honors the most influential educator of their PCSD school career. The award was founded by Parkite Jim Doilney in 1996, in honor of his mother who was a teacher.

Nearly 40 PCHS teachers received a nomination from the Class of 2021 this year, but it was PCHS math teacher Deb Alcox, pictured above, who received the most. Our hearty congratulations go out to Ms Alcox!

The seniors are encouraged to write about their nominee, and their quotes are heartfelt and inspiring - especially after such a difficult year!

"She has been an amazing teacher during Covid and in general. She always makes everyone smile in class no matter how hard it is. She helped me so much through this difficult class and made it enjoyable."
Park City School District Commended by Park City Municipal
On May 27th, Park City Municipal passed a resolution recognizing Park City School District, local teachers, and students whose resilience has allowed them to overcome adversity and achieve remarkable accomplishments during the 2020-2021 school year.

Before the presentation, retiring Summit County Health Director, Rich Bullough, noted, "They've (PCSD) done a heroic job...in my view they are the example for the country."

You can click here to see the City Staff Report, and here to see the Resolution. If you would like to see the recording, click here and go to Resolution 2.

PCEF was proud to contribute a statement of support, which is included in the staff report.
