A Word from the CEO
Thank you all for the incredibly warm welcome as I settle into my role at JRB. It’s been a pleasure getting to know many members of our community, including recently at the Rabbinic Training Institute. I look forward to connecting with participants and engaging in meaningful conversations as I attend upcoming NAASE, JEA, and other denominational gatherings in the months ahead.
This issue of the Financial Pulse concludes our three-part series on the Roth after-tax contribution. This article explores how the benefit works and how it may factor into deciding if Roth is right for you.
For clergy, one important consideration is the parsonage allowance in retirement. Distributions from a Traditional pre-tax account may be designated as a parsonage allowance, which can reduce - even eliminate - income taxes in retirement. This article explores how that benefit works and how it may factor into your Roth decision.
At its December meeting, the JRB Board of Trustees elected a new Executive Committee. Please join me in welcoming Rabbi Tracee Rosen as Chair. Serving alongside are Mr. Robert Greenwald as First Vice Chair, Rabbi Melinda Zalma as Second Vice Chair, Mr. Stanley M. Hochhauser, CPA as Secretary, and Hazzan Rabbi Luis U. Cattan as Treasurer.
As I continue to learn from the JRB community, I’ve found the testimonials on our website to be especially meaningful, none more so than the reflections shared by Jo-Anne Tucker-Zemlak, USCJ’s Director of Synagogue Operations & Program Support. I encourage you to take a moment to listen to her perspective on JRB’s service and impact.
As always, please contact JRB at 888-JRB-FREE (572-3733) or reply to this email if you have questions about these articles or would like to review any aspect of your financial plan.
Shabbat Shalom,
