Is the RPV Election being bought by Terranea?

PVP Watch has discovered that Long Point/LLC, owner of Terranea is providing funding to support the election of 3 candidates, Barbara Ferraro, David Bradley, and Steve Perestam.
Why?

THE MONEY

Form 497 filed with the RPV City Clerk shows Long Point/Terranea is contributing $203,445 to the campaigns of Bradley, Ferraro and Perestam.

Form 496 shows a total to support Ferraro of $26,535

THE PURPOSE

Long Point/Terranea are funding multiple massive mailings. Each piece has Bradley, Ferraro and Perestam as their choice ‘for good government.’

OUR CONCERN

Is Terranea trying to buy 3 votes of our City Council? Will, if elected, these councilmembers be beholden to Terranea and vote their support on Terranea related issues that come before the City Council? With three ‘pocket votes’ Terranea will have a majority to make decisions in their favor. Is that right? PVP Watch doesn’t think so.

ACTION PVP WATCH HAS TAKEN

PVP Watch has sent emails to Bradley, Ferraro and Perestam asking them to contact the Terranea Political Action Committees (PACs) and ask them to remove themselves immediately. To date the candidates have not done so nor responded to PVP Watch.

ARE THESE PACS LEGAL?

Yes. PACs can spend money like this, if they report it, because the candidates are not receiving the money directly . . . just benefitting from a mailing from an organization biased on its own self-interests.

WHAT CAN YOU DO?

When you vote, PVP Watch advises, that you DO NOT vote for Bradley, Ferraro and Perestam. Vote for Michele Carbone, Paul Seo and Kevin Yourman. PVP Watch has already endorsed Seo and Yourman.  RPV needs fresh, independent thinking, it does not need candidates with obligations to a single entity.

To repeat, we no longer endorse David Bradley and believe that Michele Carbone, Paul Seo and Kevin Yourman are better choices for RPV City Council.

PVP Watch’s Comment: We at PVP Watch are deeply concerned about Terranea’s intrusion into the RPV council race and Bradley’s, Ferraro’s and Perestam’s lack of effort to denounce this self-serving support. Mostly, we are disappointed in David Bradley who was adamant in his interview with us that RPV City Council candidates SHOULD NOT take ‘outside money.’ Perhaps he doesn't consider Terranea's major support to be 'outside.' It is most certainly outside City Hall.
