Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.

From the Foleys

Is There Such A Thing As Smuggling Too Many Bibles Into North Korea and Other Closed Countries?

I regularly see ministries putting out ads claiming that the number one request of North Korean Christians is for Bibles, Bibles, and more Bibles. These ministries claim that for every few dollars you send, they'll send one more Bible into North Korea; the only limit is your generosity. I've even seen them claim to distribute Bibles into North Korean concentration camps.

As someone who has worked with underground North Korean Christians for many years, I can tell you that while such ads have tremendous emotional and fundraising appeal, they are not rooted in reality. The amount of time, care, logistics, people, money, and prayer it takes to place even a single Bible inside North Korea is beyond most people's imagining. It's never cheap, and it doesn't happen on a mass-production level. The shortage is never of Bibles available for distribution. Never.

I was reading a private letter...

Doers of the Word
The sixth sermon in a series of teaching on the Ten Commandments. In this sermon, the Foleys teach on what makes murder a sin. This sermon may provide a fresh Biblical perspective on the meaning of life for Christians who are concerned about controversial topics such as abortion or how God feels about the killing of animals.

Pastor Tim's Prayer Points
  • Praise – We give thanks to the Lord that the Tortured for Christ movie has been received so well by the Korean Christian community. Our first showing resulted in a full house and since then we have several more showings scheduled at our office, at Korean churches and at homes across Korea.

  • Please pray for the leaders and members of the Early Rain Covenant Church in Chengdu, China. The Chinese government continues to harass, threaten, arrest, beat and torture both the members and the leaders of the church. Most recently, Mr. Gou of the Early Rain Church was last seen on March 18th at the Hangzhou East Train Station, being escorted by multiple plainclothes police officers. His head was shaved, and he was handcuffed. We do not know where he was being taken. Pray that God would surround him with his steadfast love and peace!

  • Let us continue to pray for Mrs. H (NK lady) and her Han-Chinese husband Mr. K. Mrs. H was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer and the couple has already begun the funeral preparations. She initially complained and blamed God for her extreme situation, but she has now willingly accepted her illness and begun to share God’s grace with other NK ladies who visit her. Through this, the couple have grown closer to God and are being a good example of faith to other Christians under persecution. Please pray that God may use this couple for His glory.
