πŸ’š Fostering Positive Change Through Student Wellness πŸ’š

β€Š
β€Š

Thanks to a generous gift from the Alnoba Lewis Family Foundation, PCEF has been able to fully fund a three-year pilot program at TMJH focused solely on student wellness. Now, in its second year, small but meaningful changes are taking shape and building a community of students who champion empathy, respect, and positive connections.

β€œWhat we’re seeing is a kinder, gentler school because of the intentional impact of the wellness initiative. The focus, lessons, and structures put in place have been innovative both as a school and as a district.”

-TMJH Interim Principal Isaiah Folau

Structured advisory classes, wellness lessons, positive behavior incentives, and educator support are a few key areas of focus within the school.

πŸ“± Cell Phone Pouch Pilot Program:

Less Conflict, Less Distraction 🚨

β€Š
β€Š

Fully funded by PCEF, the program meets a critical wellness need for junior high students. With timely and accessible funding made possible with by the Alnoba Lewis Family Foundation and the Roberts Rothe Fund for Perpetual Giving, Park City schools led the way as one of the first in Utah to implement a new cell phone policy from the very start of the school year.

Compared to this time last year, discipline issues are down 75%, meaning teachers are spending less time managing phone-related problems and more time teaching.

  • 2023 start of school year though October: 21 suspensions, and 1 to 2 student conflict resolutions every week
  • 2024 start of school year though October: 5 suspensions, and 3 total conflict resolutions

The program impact has been significant: less cyberbullying, fewer conflicts, and improved focus in the classroom.
