Empowering children to independently and effectively resolve disagreements with peers requires patience, love, and practice in developing a variety of skills, such as taking others’ perspectives and recognizing their feelings.



This session provides ideas and key points to help children learn that conflicts can be resolved when adults intentionally model and scaffold children through effective problem-solving strategies.


Participants will be able to:

Dr. Angela Searcy


As an educator since 1990, Angela is the owner and founder of Simple Solutions Educational Services and has experience at all levels of education. Angela is currently an adjunct instructor at Erikson Institute, a master cadre trainer for the Pyramid Model, a professional development provider for The Discovery Source, and The Bureau of Education and Research, a CLASS Pre-K Affiliate Trainer for Teachstone and author of  Push Past It! A Positive Approach to Challenging Classroom Behaviors and Elevating Equity: Advice for Navigating Challenging Conversations in Early Childhood Education.

Sandra Ampudia


Sandy Ampudia is the Director of Professional Development at The Discovery Source. She has been serving our programs, teachers, and families for about 3 years. She offers training in either English or Spanish, and in-person or virtually.


Sandy comes from a background in Early Childhood Education, Psychology, and Special Education. In Sandy's free time, she likes to travel and enjoy time with her family.
