Twenty-Sixth Sunday after Pentecost- November 17 2024

Can We Listen to Christmas Music Yet?

You know how it goes. The second half of November rolls around. The days get cooler and darker. Some people think it's time for "Oh Come All Ye Faithful" and "Deck the Halls" and others threaten violence if such premature Christmas celebration sounds in their ears.

Okay, maybe this is just our house.

In any case, this is a year that I have decided that I need to hear the Christmas story early. So, for what it is worth, Christmas music season started today for me.

Here are some verses that are bringing me joy this afternoon.

From "Come, Thou Long-Expected Jesus"

Come, Thou long-expected Jesus

Born to set Thy people free;

From our fears and sins release us

Let us find our rest in Thee.

From "Oh, Holy Night"

Oh, holy night, the stars are brightly shining

It is the night of the dear Savior’s birth!

Long lay the world in sin and error pining

Till He appeared and the soul felt its worth.

From "In the Bleak Midwinter"

What can I give Him

Poor as I am?

If I were a shepherd, I would give a lamb

If I were a wise man, I would do my part

Yet what I can, I give Him

Give my heart.

God Bless, friends. It's not (really) Christmas yet. But Christmas is (surely) coming.

Try Out a Small Group Starting Nov. 20

The Small Group team at the Zimmerman’s household will be starting a new study on Wed Nov 20 which will run through the Spring.  We will be discussing Exodus through the book of Joshua; working on Biblical principles of freedom, the challenges of today and how to practically apply these principles into our own faith walks.   We meet most Wednesdays from 7-8:30pm.  We have room for a few more, if you’d like to join us for any or all of this study.   Please reach out to Catherine Zimmerman with interest (571) 426-4204.

Epiphany is helping WFCM with their holiday food drives again this year. Your donations are stacking up in the entryway. We have committed to packing 25 boxes for the Thanksgiving food drive.  Food & cash should be dropped off at Epiphany by this Sunday, November 17.

Here is the signup link for the Thanksgiving groceries we need.

You can also help by donating cash and we’ll buy what’s needed.  Use the app and select ‘Holiday Food’ or write a check payable to Epiphany with ‘Holiday Food’ specified in the menu. Any remaining funds will be donated to WFCM.
