Happy Halloween! 🎃 Today also happens to be National Internet Day, which takes me right back to the pre-internet era. I started my career long before Google and social media, when marketing was simpler—word of mouth, print ads, maybe a spot on the radio or in the local paper. There was a charm to it all. No algorithms to chase, just genuine connections.
These days, we have endless tools and channels, and I spend a lot of time sharing what I’ve learned to help clients find their way through it all. If I had a dollar for every free piece of advice I’ve given… well, I’d probably be rich! My goal has always been to help my clients grow to the point where they’re ready to either handle their marketing themselves or outsource it completely.
Years ago, I had a client who would book a call with me every week to pick my brain on social media. She didn’t want to put herself out there, but she wanted to know everything about promoting her services. This went on for months, each session a new question. Then, one day, I learned why—she’d published a book on social media for her industry! She had taken everything we discussed and turned it into a resource for others. Today, she’s very active on social, leading events and online sessions, and I’m thrilled to have played a part in that journey.
Like the lady in the story above, not every small business has the budget or expertise to run a full marketing team, and it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by all the options out there.
