Every so often when I need reenergizing, I take a long, brisk walk. For I know that walking provides many benefits to my physical as well as my mental health. Benefits that include: improving my cardiovascular health, burning calories, boosting my energy and improving my mood.
Oftentimes, when my faith needs reenergizing, I like to take another long, brisk walk. A walk down the hall of faith found in Hebrews, Chapter eleven.
For on this walk I am spiritually refreshed when I look around and see the many people who lived a life of great faith. I see Noah who built an ark by faith when it had never rained a day in his life. I see Abraham who believed, by faith, that God would produce a nation through him if he left his homeland and moved to another land. I see Sarai who believed by faith that she would have a child, even though she was old and barren. I see Joseph, who by faith, was so sure his people would be delivered from Egyptian bondage that he asked for his bones to be carried out of Egypt when they left.
I Timothy 4:8 states that "Physical exercise has some value but spiritual exercise is much more important, for it promises a reward in both this life and the next." So go ahead and utilize the benefits of taking a good, brisk walk for your mental and physical health. And when you need a boost of energy to reenergize your spiritual health, don't forget the benefits offered when you take a walk down the hall of faith.
