Is life about luck?
Dear HYE Yogis,

Do you believe that life is about luck? Do you look around you and assess others' happiness and success based on how lucky they are in their world? I suggest that life is not about luck. Life is how you believe in yourself and envision your world with intention!

Do you feel you deserve what you want or desire in life? Future happenings and accomplishments start with how you believe in you. Take some quiet time to ponder that question. IF you do not believe in yourself, what can you do to change it? Create a word, phrase or mantra that you repeat over and over whenever you begin to doubt yourself. Some ideas might be: "believe", "I am deserving" or "I am worthy". Anytime doubting thoughts or the "DJ in your mind" starts to scream negativity, stop all chatter in it's tracks, and repeat your mantra 3-5 times. Follow this new forming habit with a couple deep breaths. If you are able to be in a quiet alone space, close your eyes with focus on your breath and begin to connect with your inner self.

If you have past pain, grief, resentment or other negative emotions that you feel have not been given attention or resolved, please begin to make time for healing. Make time for yoga, meditation, journaling, and simply minutes to disconnect from your outer world and go inside. When you begin to open your heart and feel, negative emotions begin to dissipate. Feelings of self love, worthiness and belief will brighten and become a new way of your life.

As you begin to believe in yourself, create a written list of where you want your life to go? What do you want to do in life? What makes your heart sing? Begin to set an intention for your life and see this happening in your own mind. How will you look, feel and where will you be when this happens? Begin to envision your intention in full detail over and over. Allow your inner desires to manifest in your outer world. Keep the same intention(s) as long as you feel compelled to or until it manifests. Your inner does create your outer.

I love the month of March and the fun traditions of St. Patrick's Day. For several years, I have made my way to Chicago to watch the river turn green the weekend before the big day with dear friends. I make human connection with loved ones I want to spend time with in my life. I believe I deserve this time and I envision we will once again have many laughs in the windy city, dressed in green and staying up way too late creating memories. Life is not about luck rather belief in you and launching heartfelt intentions!

"When we create harmony in our minds and hearts, we will find it in our lives. The inner creates the outer. Always." Louise L Hay

Take the steps you need to open your heart, believe in yourself with positive thoughts and begin setting your intentions for your life! Life is not about luck! Only you can take care of you & only your inner creates your outer!

CHAR's Kickin' Vegan Chili
1 c dried garbanzo beans
1 c dried black beans
1 c dried pinto beans
Rinse and soak overnight.....cover 4" above beans with water. If time is a challenge, canned beans can be used, rinse well-2 cans each & use 4 c of veggie broth (no MSG) instead of water. Use bay leaves and continue on with Saute part of the recipe.

Rinse beans, place in pot with 6 c water. Add 1 chopped onion and 2 bay leaves. Cook until the beans are tender & still a little firm.

In a separate pan saute:
1 T avocado or coconut oil
1 large chopped onion (2 if using canned beans)
3 garlic cloves minced or chopped finely
4 chopped carrots
4 c shiitake mushrooms coarsely chopped
2 c brown mushrooms coarsely chopped
1 green pepper chopped
1 -2 jalapeno(s) chopped finely
1 bunch of chopped cilantro
Add 1/4 balsamic vinegar or red wine as the mixture gets dry & mix together while cooking on medium about 5-8 minutes.

Add to pot of cooked beans:
The above mixture of mushrooms etc.
1 pkg of Trader Joe's taco seasoning or other fave Chili powder (no MSG)
2 jars of favorite green salsa/tomatilla sauce (I use Trader Joe's)
1 large can of roasted diced tomatoes
2 tsp ground cumin
2 tsp turmeric
Salt & Pepper to taste!

Slow cook either on the stove or in a crockpot about 4 hours.

Toppings: Fresh cilantro, green onions, avocado, jalapeno and fave sour cream (I make fresh cashew cream---soak cashews, strain water and blend with coconut water, juice of 1-2 limes and kosher salt-blend until creamy!) The sour cream/cashew cream and avocado will calm the heat!

This recipe feeds a crowd....use organic products as much as possible and ENJOY!!!! Perfect for freezing leftovers!
