Congrats Bob!

This week we helped Bob Curtis celebrate 20 years in business, and in Lakeville! Bob treated family, friends, and chamber members to refreshments and dinner from the Las Tortillas food truck.

Fun fact, Las Tortillas joined the Lakeville Chamber on the spot - so welcome to them , and thank you to "Ambassador Bob" for making that connection! You see why we love this guy so much. Thank you for all that you do for our Chamber, our Foundation, and our community, Bob!

ps - Who is that guy in the front row?...Thanks for stopping by, Todd Bornhauser!

This was sweet!

We had so much fun celebrating Sweet Harvest Foods’ new 360,000ft headquarters and warehouse this week. Attendees were treated to a tour and a swag bag filled with some popular honey products. It is the second largest building in Lakeville and Sweet Harvest Foods is the largest producer of honey in the U.S.! You may know them under the brands of Nature Nate’s and Mello Honey, among others. It is a part of their mission to give back to their community and we have already seen that in so many ways through their support of the Chamber, our schools and our local non-profits. Thank you Sweet Harvest for expanding here!

If you missed Mayor Hellier's antics (again)..check out the video on our Facebook page. This is becoming our thing!

REMINDER

Sun Thisweek is moving to a paid subscription model later this summer. Sun Thisweek is a valuable resource for our local community – being the main place to get our hyper local news, high school sports, and community announcements.

It is important that we continue to have a local newspaper where we can submit our announcements and catch up on the local news of the week. You can click here to choose a subscription option. Subscription Offers (newzware.com)

PSA Wire Fraud

Our 2024 Board Chair, Brady Folkestad of Lakeview Bank, shared this information with our Board of Directors recently and I wanted to share with all of you as well. If you believe you/your company or someone you know was tricked into sending a wire to the wrong location please do the following:

  1. Contact the bank RIGHT AWAY
  2. Contact local law enforcement
  3. Complete the report form at ic3.gov

Time is not on your side-you need to do the three steps above as quickly as possible. Recovery rate using the ic3.gov channel is 85% within 24 hours, after 72 hours it is almost 0%.

If you have any questions, reach out to your banker. The best thing you can do to prevent this from happening to you is to always, always call the party you are wiring to on a known number, don’t accept a wire instructions change via email.

Meet your Ambassadors:

Kristy Groh

Our Chamber Ambassadors give back so much of their time and talent to the Chamber and our business community. They attend events, write thank you notes, deliver membership and anniversary plaques, and more. Throughout the year we will highlight them. Make sure and say HI when you see them around! Our next Ambassador is…

Your Name:

Kristy Groh

Title:

Owner

Company:

LaserMama

Your Specialty:

Laser engraving services for gifting to new clients and employees.

Reason you like doing business in Lakeville:

Every time I do business or meet a new business owner in Lakeville I feel deeper ties to the community - and that's a great feeling!

Years as a Chamber Member:

3 - I think

Years as an Ambassador: Newbie!

Favorite thing about being a Lakeville Chamber member: The opportunities we are afforded to learn about the community we serve and work with other businesses to build each other up.

Best advice you would

give to a new Chamber Member:

Show up. Do as much as your schedule will allow. Find out how to get involved. Be seen and enjoy the process of meeting and learning from other business owners.

Your must-attend Chamber event, and why:

I LOVE the golf tournament and while I haven't yet been able to attend it, the Gala is supposed to be where it's at!

Give us one of your most fun (or funniest!) moments in your business career:  Here's a "I hate it when that happens" moment: I'm chatting with a Chamber member and asking him about his wedding and an order we were working on as he blankly looks at me and says that we were not working on anything. I then realize he's not who I think he is and I am so embarrassed that I don't even know how to end the conversation. Thank you Thomas for not making it awkward! I should probably buy you a coffee. LOL

Favorite go-to meal at one of our restaurants: Better Half - Breakfast Tacos (no chorizo, add avocado, corn tortillas)

Favorite thing to do for fun around town: I LOVE Antlers Park, Biking to Dairy Delite, Ritter Farm dog park and mountain biking at Casperson Park.

Summer projects?!

Don’t forget that you can check out our spring home show vendors ALL YEAR LONG on the Home Show page on the Chamber website! We have so many great companies ready to help you with your home improvement projects this summer, fall, and winter!

Lions Beer, Brats and Bingo: It all started in Lakeville, Minnesota in 1978. Now in our 47th year, Lakeville residents view Beer, Brats and Bingo as a reunion just as much as a community fundraiser for the Lions Club. This event is an opportunity to reunite with old friends and make new acquaintances. Click the image below for all the details!
