Hurricane Isaac passes by

"But for me it is good to be near God;
    I have made the Lord God my refuge,
    that I may tell of all your works.
Psalm 73:28

We can give thanks to the Lord for his mercies in steering Hurricane Isaac from our churches, that refuge in which we can trust!  Rev. Hopp, Welzien and Sawyer all reported that the affect on them was minimal.  For future reference, you can keep an eye on OPCDisasterResponse on Facebook for real-time updates on potential natural disasters, posted as they become available.

Regarding the Ishinomaki Construction Project in Japan, material is being ordered with a goal of Construction Teams beginning work on the Ishinomaki Project on Oct. 22.  We hope to field 4 teams of builders.  Please let me know if you are able to go for 2 weeks to serve in Japan in the late fall!  Please pray that the Lord will once again raise up the right people to be members and leaders of these teams.

Don't miss the exciting reports on OPC STM teams active throughout the OPC this summer!

"Richard is extremely grateful for this outpouring of Christian love from this team who was willing to drive 800 miles to spend a week to minister to this brother in Christ who suffers from cerebral palsy by painting his house...in the rain..."   Read on...

I hope you caught this great article on www.CHMCE.org about the STM opportunity to have your team tutored by OPC pastor, Bill Welzien, in Key West, FL, in presenting the gospel to others. "Let's send more young people to train in Bill's laboratory in sunny Key West, Florida...Read on...

"This past July, I was a member of one of the OPC Short Term Missions Disaster Response teams sent to Sendai, Japan, to assist with tsunami relief work. We 10 Americans, hailing from states coast to coast, stayed dormitory-style for two weeks at the recently-dedicated Nozomi (Hope) Center in Yamamoto Cho. Throughout our time in Sendai, God allowed us to see both deep sorrow and redeeming joy, emphasizing not only the area's great need for His Word, but also the wonderful works He is doing there..."   Read on...

We're trying something new.  Here is a way to communicate local opportunities for service that present themselves.  For example, you will see an opportunity for one skilled as an electrician to be able to minister to a couple of our city churches in Philadelphia.  If you have such a need in your church or presbytery that I can help to publicize, let's see how this works.  The goal is to create opportunities for the varying skills within the body of Christ to minister one to another.
