Late Nigth Live Literary Events After Dark Presents
LADY ZEN
|
|
by Mittie Roger
Late Night Live, an events series, features poets, storytellers, writers, and more in a creative space of performance. Our first guest (October 14) in the performance-based series is the incredibly talented Alzenira Quezada, known as Lady Zen, who was kind enough to have a chat with us.
MR: Our October theme is "Life Story", and I think it's impossible not to let your life infiltrate your work. Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and how your life has influenced your work?
AQ: [...] Being raised in a Christian household I saw the most successful use of this form of motivation used by gospel preachers creating highly emotive environments to get more sinners to the altar; using sermons in combination with music and sensory objects to mesmerize and engage the congregation through symbolism.
This ability to organize masses to change by manufacturing emotion, unbeknownst to me at the time, became my passion or rather I should say, being an agent of change and social justice became my passion. As a queer person of color, I realized how powerful stories create acceptance. So, I want to create and shape stories in as many ways as I can. It is my purpose.

ENTREVISTA CON PAOLA TINOCO
|
|
Por Milena Solot
Festival Escritores: ¿Siempre has escrito cuentos?
