Dear Friends,
Happy Autumn! The weather is getting cooler, daylight is getting shorter, the leaves are changing colors. All these things are changes that some folks welcome with open arms but others want to postpone. Ever since I moved to Maine, September has been my favorite month here. I've used the word "glorious" to describe this time of year on many occasions.
Here at Island Connections we continue the celebration of our 25th anniversary at our upcoming Annual Meeting on October 6. I am looking forward to sharing our accomplishments with all of you. Our guest speaker, Jo Cooper, worked for Island Connections before she started Friends in Action in Ellsworth. She will share a few of her stories from the early days of Island Connections. Also at the meeting we will honor our Volunteer of the Year. Who will it be this year?
I am pleased to announce we are bringing back our Mary Parker Memorial 5k Race. I never had the opportunity to meet Mary, but I understand she was a special lady and we are honored to remember her work and her life. Won't you join us?
I am reflecting on the fact that I've been here at Island Connections 9 months now. My how it has flown by. Every day I am reminded of how amazing this organization is, a small organization doing mighty things. We could not do it without our amazing volunteers, all our donors and of course our wonderful Neighbors that we have the privilege to serve. My heart overflows.
Blessings & Peace,
Sharon
