"Beats on the Bayou"
Concert Series June 2018
|
|
NEW IBERIA, La. – Join the Isle of Iberia as Nash FM 99.1 presents a month long “Beats on the Bayou” concert series.
June 9:
Richard Lebouef and 2Step - June 9 from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. The band performs Cajun and Zydeco numbers with R & B influences blended together to create the "Two Step groove."
Zydeco accordion player Richard LeBouef couldn't speak English until he learned the language when he entered school. His first language was Cajun French, which he learned in the home of the grandparents who raised him. His grandfather imparted respect and love for the family's Cajun heritage, which led LeBouef to his strong attraction to the culture's music.
A budding entertainer, he began to play the accordion when he was seven years old and performed for the first time at a dance before he had turned ten. Now he fronts a group called 2Step and plays throughout his home state of Louisiana at numerous events and festivals, many of which are concentrated in the southwestern region of the state.
Their dance music is a mixture of swamp pop, zydeco, and Cajun numbers. Sometimes during a performance, they throw in a bit of country or rock. LeBouef's trademark is his joviality, and his style of playing the accordion could be described as exuberant squeezing. His band includes drummer Kevin Sonnier, bassist Jimmy Hebert, piano player Eric Adcock, and guitarist Tim Picard.

June 16:
Blaine Roy - June 16 from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. The guys work very well together and their style is a rocking blend of country music that is sure to please the masses.
Born and raised in South Louisiana, Blaine is 100% Cajun. He is the youngest child of Leo and Mary Roy's five children and has a very close relationship with his family.
While in college, Blaine started working at Cowboy's Nite Club in Scott, La. There he would forge lasting relationships with many musicians of the various bands that would perform at the club. These various bands would call Blaine up to the stage to sing.
Blaine started his band Second Wind in 2002. It all started with a phone call to Steel Guitarist, Richard Comeaux. From there things quickly fell into place.
Blaine's "Honky Tonk Heroes" include: George Strait, Keith Whitley, Merle Haggard, Conway Twitty, Ronnie Dunn, George Jones, Willie Nelson, Vern Gosdin, Hank William's Jr.... and the list goes on.

June 23:
Chase Tyler Band - June 23 from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. Chase and his band appear regularly throughout the gulf coast region.
"Tailgate Sunset" marks the third full length release by this south Louisiana artist who has made a career of making great music since before he was old enough to drive. As with prior releases, the LP contains a cross section of songs - love lost and found, feel good music, and religious introspection. There's even a fan requested cover of Van Morrison's "Into the Mystic." In other words, there's something for everyone.
The prestigious fan site ReverbNation ranks the Chase Tyler Band #1 for the greater Baton Rouge area and in the Top 50 country acts nationwide.

June 30:
Radio Zydeco - June 30 from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. With South Louisiana serving as a jumping off point, Lafayette’s own Radio Zydeco cut, twist, deconstruct and reassemble until they create a fusion of unorthodox sound.
Zydeco Radio bring an eclectic and relatable message into a music tradition rooted in care-free attitude and good-time vibes. They mix old-school zydeco grooves with big 70s rock riffs and New Orleans-style funk/blues since August of 2014.
All the boys come from strong music traditions including delta blues, Memphis soul, and all things South Louisiana. Radio Zydeco is music for everyone.
