IMS Holiday Giving Campaign

As you prepare for the holiday season, please consider donating to the IMS Gift Box to benefit the IMS community. There are two ways to assist our IMS students this holiday season:

-purchase any number of gift cards in $25 increments to Target, Fred Meyer, Safeway, and Dick’s Sporting Goods and drop them off in the box at the IMS office by Friday, December 9

-make a financial donation to the IMS Panther Closet that benefits any student at IMS in need of clothing, personal care items, school supplies, and more!

Go to https://issaquahmiddleptsa.org click on My Account -> Donate Now -> Angel Program Donation.

Thank you! Happy Holidays!

Most Valuable Panther Volunteers Needed!

Do you like ice cream? (Or would you at least be willing to serve ice cream to dozens of eager middle schoolers?) If so, we have an opportunity for you! Once a month, the PTSA hosts an ice cream sundae bar at lunchtime for MVP (Most Valuable Panther) winners. These are students who have been nominated by their teachers for modeling IMS values such as kindness, patience, and honesty. Time commitment is from approximately 10:30-1:30 on one Friday each month; sign up for just one month or for all! If interested, please contact Laurie Bateman at mostvaluablepanther@issaquahmiddleptsa.org to sign up

A Note from the Health Room...and King County Public Health

If your child is sick PLEASE keep them home. The ISD has posted information about when to keep a child home on their website. Currently King County Public Health warns of increasing rates of 3 respiratory illnesses: influenza, RSV and covid. With many holidays approaching (and recently passed) please keep kids who are sick at home. Winter Break will be much more fun if we can all stay healthy!

Ice Skating Fundraiser

From Friday November 18th through Sunday January 8th the Bellevue Downtown Ice Rink will donate $3 per ticket to the Issaquah Middle PTSA if you mention "Issaquah Middle" when you check in. A great opportunity to support the PTSA while you enjoy a fun winter activity!

Lunch for the Break

Parent Wiser: Smart but Scattered: Executive Function

Join Dr Peg Dawson for a Zoom Webinar Friday December 9th at noon. Is your student disorganized, forgetful, and easily distracted? Do they have trouble starting tasks, keeping track of papers, or handing in their homework? Students with executive function deficits present unique challenges to parents and teachers. Peg Dawson will help you better understand executive skills within the context of brain development, and how they impact school performance and daily living. Most importantly, she will share strategies to improve these skills in your student.

Dr. Peg Dawson has over 30 years of clinical practice and has worked with thousands of children who struggle at home and at school. She does professional development training on executive skills for schools and organizations nationally and internationally. She is also the co-author of several books for parents and professionals, including Smart but Scattered and Smart but Scattered Teens. To attend register here.
