Student Vaccine Interest Survey

The District has partnered with Springfield Pharmacy to help distribute vaccines to students. Earlier this week, TESD hosted a successful COVID-19 vaccination clinic for students aged 16 and over who wished to receive a vaccine. We anticipate that children aged 12 and over will soon be eligible for the Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccine, and we are making plans to host a similar clinic in the very near future. To help with planning, we are asking interested families to please review and complete this interest survey by the end of the day on Monday, May 10.

Please click on this link if you are interested in having your child vaccinated.

Completing this survey is not a commitment to receiving the vaccine; it is to help the pharmacy identify how many doses to obtain. There will be a separate communication with information on how to sign up for the vaccine.

Here are the current details of the plan.

1. Location: one or both middle schools.

2. Date: To Be Determined, based on FDA approval and availability of the vaccine.

3. Time: We would likely conduct it from 4:00 to 8:00 pm.

4. Parents are required to be present if their child is not 18.

5. It is possible that the second dose will be administered after the last day of school (June 11).

6. The vaccine is free -- there is no cost to families.

7. Parents and students aged 18 and over would need to complete a consent form.

8. If available, families are asked to please bring a student photo ID, insurance card and the signed consent form.

If you are interested in having your child vaccinated at this clinic, please click on the link above and respond to the survey by the end of the day on Monday, May 10, 2021. If you have questions, please contact Chris Groppe at [email protected].

We welcome volunteers!

We could use support from medical professionals such as nurses or M.D.s, to administer the shot, and non-medical volunteers for support in monitoring the line or other tasks. If you wish to volunteer, contact Chris Groppe at [email protected].

Commencement 2021

Graduation will be held on Tuesday, June 8th at 6pm on Teamer Field. This week, Pennsylvania announced updated guidelines which will begin on June 1st. Our Pandemic Team is in the process of reviewing our current Safety Plan in light of these changes.  We will communicate how these changes impact graduation, specifically guest tickets, in the coming weeks. Thank you for your patience as we work through the details. Stay tuned for more details.

Senior Internship Program

Seniors will begin their internship on Tuesday, May 11. Most students will be doing a traditional internship but many others have secured virtual internships or have chosen to do the alternate internship track. Our seniors have worked very hard at finding internships in a wide variety of fields during this challenging year.

We are sending them off to get first-hand experience in a variety of fields including aviation, public health, engineering, marketing, public relations, technology, non-profits and more! Questions about the Senior Internship Program can be directed to Jeanne Braun at [email protected].

Spring Sports

Spring Sports are well underway and we have begun competitions. As a reminder, all spectators must wear a mask and be socially distanced from others who are not residing in the same household. We will continue to follow the guidance from PIAA and the health departments as the situation evolves.

We are planning on having a fall Sports meeting before the end of the year. The Athletic Department will be sending out information as the format and date is finalized.  As always, let’s keep up the fight in mitigating the spread of Covid-19. Go Stoga!

Traffic Safety Reminders

TESD urges all parents to exercise traffic safety around our schools. Please be reminded to:

  • Drive slowly and carefully in school parking lots, drop off areas and nearby roads
  • Obey all traffic flow patterns and rules of the road
  • When dropping off and picking up students, please pull all the way up allowing traffic to flow
  • Discuss pedestrian safety with your kids (use crosswalks/sidewalks, look both ways, don't "walk and text," etc)

Traffic patterns around the schools are always busy at the start and end of our school days. We appreciate your attention to the safety of all of our students.

***VISITORS***

Per our district's safety plan, we are not permitted to have visitors or parents/guardians in the school building. Exceptions will be made for emergency situations. Thank you for your understanding as we begin our reopening plan for hybrid instruction.

A Note from the Attendance Office

During the hybrid model, daily attendance will continue to be taken through homeroom Schoology pages. If your child is scheduled to attend school in person but remains home (and participates virtually), there is no need to send an absence note to the attendance office. If your child is unable to attend school in person or participate virtually, please contact the attendance office at [email protected]
