Issue 20: June 2021

Commencement 2021

Conestoga’s Class of 2021 will celebrate commencement on Teamer Field, June 8th at 6:00PM. In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be postponed to Wednesday, June 9th at 6:00PM. The decision will be made by 8:00AM the morning of graduation and communicated via email and posted on the district website. Rehearsal will take place on Teamer Field at 9:00AM on the day of graduation. Additional information follows:

  • Gates at Teamer Field will open at 5:00PM.
  • We will offer unlimited seats for families; NO tickets will be necessary.
  • Masks are required for all unvaccinated individuals. T/E School District recommends fully masking at all school events including those held outside but will permit individual determination due to our inability to verify personal vaccination status.
  • Social distancing guidelines have been lifted for outdoor events, allowing for traditional seating in the bleachers and in chairs on the field.
  • Satellite parking will be available at all T/E Elementary Schools and Valley Forge Middle School. Each site will be clearly marked as a parking site for the CHS graduation exercises. Shuttle buses will be provided both before and after the event, beginning at 4:30PM. Families are encouraged to reduce the number of vehicles driven to the event to maximize availability of parking spaces.
  • Handicapped parking will be available at T/E Middle School. Please contact Alyssa Myers at 610.240.1048 or [email protected] to reserve a handicapped parking permit.

We look forward to celebrating the Class of 2021 next week!

Reflections 2021

Reflections, an annual event where seniors celebrate their time at Conestoga through music and spoken words, will be a virtual performance on Monday, June 7th at 7:00pm. Unfortunately we were unable to secure adequate space for an in-person event, but our senior performers look forward to sharing their talents and thoughts with you. A link to the Reflections event will be available on the Conestoga website at 7:00 pm on June 7th.

Attention Seniors

Final transcripts will be sent to colleges in mid-June. Please be sure that your Naviance account is updated so we are sending transcripts to the correct college. If your final college destination changes, it is extremely important to contact your counselor or send an email to our Registrar Mrs. Gretchen Barkman at ([email protected]) with updated information.

Textbook / Laptop Collection

12th Grade Students

Laptop and Textbook collection will take place on June 2nd from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM in the small gym for all seniors who did not have the opportunity to return these items in May. A final drop off for textbooks and laptops will occur on June 8th at 8AM prior to graduation rehearsal. If graduation is moved due to weather conditions, the final drop off date will be moved to the day of graduation and graduation rehearsal. All laptops, textbooks and debts must be rectified prior to graduation rehearsal on June 8th in order for students to receive their Caps & Gowns. Anyone returning a laptop and/or textbooks must provide their Health Screening when entering the building.

Grades 9th, 10th and 11th

In-Person students will have the opportunity to return their textbooks during their assigned classes on June 10th and 11th. Individual teachers will be collecting these items during the school day. Student assigned laptops will be collected during your child’s English class on either June 10th or June 11th depending on which day students are scheduled for English.

Virtual students will have the opportunity to return their textbooks and laptop on June 10th between 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM in the small gym. Students and parents are reminded that they must complete the PowerSchool Health Screening prior to their arrival at CHS on June 10th. Students will be required to provide the green PowerSchool Health Screening pass when they arrive and enter the small gym.

Last Call Drop Off

A final collection date on June 14th will be available for any student who was not able to drop off their laptop or textbooks on June 10th or June 11th. Students will be able to return these items from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM in the Main Lobby. All previous mentioned health screening processes will be in effect on June 14th.

Fall 2021 Athletic Update

We are on target for a regular fall athletic season for 2021! Varsity and JV teams will start on Monday, August 16th (Football will start a week earlier on August 9th for heat acclimation). JVB and 9th grade programs will begin once school starts.

As a reminder, all athletes interested in participating in a fall sport, must submit all required paperwork to the athletic office after July 5. Please use the following link for all PIAA paperwork. https://www.tesd.net/domain/1881

We want to emphasize how important it is that we all stay vigilant in mitigating the spread of COVID-19 at all times. We want our student athletes to have the ability to compete in a safe manner and we will take all necessary steps to do so. We will continue to monitor the recommendations from the PIAA, PDE, and county/state health departments and adjust accordingly.

Traffic Safety Reminders

TESD urges all parents to exercise traffic safety around our schools. Please be reminded to:

  • Drive slowly and carefully in school parking lots, drop off areas and nearby roads
  • Obey all traffic flow patterns and rules of the road
  • Please be respectful of our neighbors
  • When dropping off and picking up students, please pull all the way up allowing traffic to flow
  • Discuss pedestrian safety with your kids (use crosswalks/sidewalks, look both ways, don't "walk and text," etc)

Traffic patterns around the schools are always busy at the start and end of our school days. We appreciate your attention to the safety of all of our students.

***VISITORS***

Per our district's safety plan, we are not permitted to have visitors or parents/guardians in the school building. Exceptions will be made for emergency situations. Thank you for your understanding as we begin our reopening plan for hybrid instruction.

A Note from the Attendance Office

During the hybrid model, daily attendance will continue to be taken through homeroom Schoology pages. If your child is scheduled to attend school in person but remains home (and participates virtually), there is no need to send an absence note to the attendance office. If your child is unable to attend school in person or participate virtually, please contact the attendance office at [email protected]
