FSPCA Launches New Community Portal
The Food Safety Preventive Control Alliance has been developing an online Community to support the needs of food industry stakeholders including our lead instructor community. The FSPCA Community is active! The community is a place to

  • Ask questions and get answers from other members or the FSPCA team.
  • Search for articles, participate in discussions and contribute to FSPCA's knowledge base.

You can use see discussions and hot topics as a general user or you can join the community to participate in discussions related to preventive controls and other food safety related areas. Kaiping Deng, Co-Lead of the Sprout Safety Alliance (SSA), provided an overview of the history, mission, current progress and future plans of the Alliance at the International Sprout Growers Association 2016 Annual Convention, May 1-6, in San Juan, PR. 

The SSA is working with International Food Protection Training Institute (IFPTI) on online modules development. The Alliance plans to launch Train-The-Trainer courses in the summer of 2016.

IFSH's Department of Food Science and Nutrition put on a successful 7th Annual Graduate Student Seminar Day! The lineup of student presentations was marvelous, and we'd like to extend a special congratulations to the winners!

Department of Food Science and Nutrition (FdSN) students participated in the talent show portion of the IFSH International Cultural Day. A great potluck was shared by the FdSN students and Illinois Tech faculty and staff, too.

The results of the collaborative research program at the Institute for Food Safety and Health's National Center for Food Safety and Technology, are reported in scientific publications, disseminated through presentations at professional conferences or published as monographs. Literature citations for publications authored or co-authored by IFSH and FDA CFSAN Division of Food Processing Science and Technology scientists, and external collaborators from 1989-2016 are available in one complete document.

IFSH began implementing a series of webinars called the Technical Connections Meeting (TCM) - in lieu of our Mid-Year Meeting - to communicate and engage with our members and stakeholders concerning IFSH's scientific platforms. We'd like to thank our members for joining us for the 2015 Food Chemistry and Packaging Platform, the Microbiology Platform, the Processing Platform, and the Nutrition Platform TCMs. 

These TCM's are continuing in 2016!
