New COVID-19 Testing Guidelines for Schools from CCHD

On October 13, 2021, the Chester County Health Department (CCHD) updated its guidance for schools on whether symptomatic students need to have a confirmatory PCR test if they received a negative result on a rapid antigen test. If a student is symptomatic and receives a negative rapid antigen test result, they will be clinically assessed as to the likelihood they have COVID-19 prior to receiving a PCR test. Please click her for the updated CCHD guidance outlines the response to a negative antigen test.

FALL BALL INFORMATION

We are happy that the Seniors are able to experience the Fall Ball at Waynesborough Country Club on Monday, November 1, from 6:00-9:00pm.

·        Students who are not vaccinated have the opportunity to receive a Covid test on Monday morning at Conestoga. If an unvaccinated student gets a test outside of school, the test must be conducted Friday, 10/29, Saturday, 10/30, or Sunday 10/31, and the negative result must be presented to the school nurse on Monday morning, 11/1.

·        Students must arrive by 7:00pm and may not leave before 8:30pm.

·        Waynesborough will be closed to members on Monday, so our seniors will have access to the entire venue, inside and outside. Also, group photo opportunities will not be available at Waynesborough prior to the prom.

·        Students must wear a properly fitted mask while inside at Waynesborough.

We wish all of our Seniors are safe and happy event!

Homecoming Dance Update

This week Student Council conducted a student poll about the preference for holding our dance. Approximately 1000 students participated in the poll and the majority selected hosting a dance in the spring. We will look to announce a date for an all-school dance to be held this spring in compliance with the Safety Plan at that time. As the dance date approaches, we will determine if the dance will be held outdoors or in the gymnasium. Additional details will be shared once a date is confirmed. We look forward to having all of our students participate this spring!

National Honor Society Plans Induction

November 3, 2021

The Conestoga Chapter of the National Honor Society will hold its annual induction ceremony on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at Conestoga High School on Teamer Field at 6:00pm. As specified by its national charter, NHS members are chosen on the basis of scholarship, service, leadership and character. They participate in various service projects in school and in the community. Students who have completed at least one full semester at CHS by the end of their sophomore or junior year are considered for membership. For the Classes of 2021 and 2022, a cumulative weighted GPA of 4.70 or higher is required for eligibility. Students who have achieved this GPA will receive letters inviting them to complete the activity form/application. Candidates are reviewed by a five member faculty council on the basis of the four factors noted above. Students who meet the criteria of the organization are invited to attend the ceremony and become members of the NHS. Following induction, members of NHS are required to uphold the highest standards of character, leadership, service, and academic achievement. They are also required to attend monthly meetings and participate in service projects. Parents with questions should contact Rachel Reavy, School Counselor, CCT Teacher and NHS Advisor, at [email protected].
