Health System Updates

Genesis PrimeCare

One East Texas FQHC is in its second year of CRCCP participation and has made impactful and lasting changes along the way. Staff across five clinic sites have modified their existing colorectal cancer screening protocols, implemented standing orders for all patients to receive FIT kit, and stayed engaged with numerous quality improvement initiatives that supported increased CRCS rates.  We are looking forward to continuing program activities with Genesis PrimeCare.

Coastal Health & Wellness

Our Gulf Coast partner health system is also in their second year of CRCCP activities. Coastal Health & Wellness has made tremendous strides increasing their CRCS rate by nearly 20% in Year 1. Coastal also works closely with the MD Anderson’s Alliance for Colorectal Testing (ACT Program), to assure all qualified patients receive access and navigation to free CRC screening tests and follow-up colonoscopies if required. We are excited to support improvement efforts at Coastal in this upcoming year.

Avenue 360

Over the past few months, our team has been working closely to complete the needs assessment and baseline data collection for our newest FQHC: Avenue 360. Avenue 360 is a FQHC in the Gulf Coast region, whose vision is that every individual in our community has access to comprehensive health care services and a high-quality medical center to meet their healthcare needs. Avenue 360 has six participating clinics sites and will be the CRCCP’ largest system to work with, yet. We are excited to get started, and watch their CRCS rates increase over the span of the project.

CRCCP Staff participates in the Academy Health 15th Annual Conference in the Science of Dissemination and Implementation in Health.

In mid-December, key program staff traveled to Washington, DC to present our poster titled, "Developing Strategies to Increase Implementation of Evidence-Based Interventions for Colorectal Cancer Screening in Federally Qualified Health Centers: An Implementation Mapping Approach."

This covered the ways that our program uses Implementation Mapping to develop theory and evidence-informed implementation strategies to increase colorectal cancer screening rates in our participating federally qualified health centers (FQHCs). The poster was nominated for Best Poster.

Attending staff were also able to network with other CRCCP grantees and industry leaders, and explore the latest innovations in D&I science.

We are looking forward to presenting more posters of our progress at conferences throughout 2023.
