Collaboration Efforts Create Powerful New
Stark Jobs Platform

Finding great opportunities to match your talent can feel like your maneuvering in a maze. What jobs are open where I live? What credentials are required? What is the pay scale? These are some of the questions that job seekers are asking.

Now, thanks to the collaborative efforts of Ohio Means Jobs, the Stark County Auditor's Office and Strengthening Stark consultants, Stark County has a comprehensive jobs database[1] that maximizes data from numerous sources. This database benefits those looking for available jobs now - even going further with predictive analytics to determine jobs needed in the future.

The data for the Strengthening Stark Jobs Platform comes from two distinct sources: Ohio Means Jobs and the U.S. Department of LaborThe former provides a comprehensive list of job openings in our region, while the latter provides information regarding regional wages, future job trends, educational requirements and experiential requirements.  While this is a tremendous asset, the developers caution us that it is not a perfect science. They are still working with employers to ensure that the data gathered is accurate for their business.

Jennifer Meeks Eels, Executive Director of Ohio Means Jobs, shared, "Our board at the Ohio Means Jobs Center has been very involved with the Strengthening Stark initiative - especially around talent development. It has been very important to us that we have not only the tools to assist businesses and job seekers, but that we also have reliable data that will drive decisions we make around helping individuals connect with training, connect with in demand jobs and also to help our educators know what is trending locally based on the data."

Students and families will find benefit from this online Jobs Platform because it creates transparency around the demand for skills, enabling young people to make more informed educational choices.  School districts can provide opportunities for students to understand the intersection of their strengths and interests in order to plan their academic and career pathways including skills, training and credentials needed for specific careers.

As the new Strengthening Stark Jobs Platform continues to develop, it is certain to become one of Strengthening Stark's most valuable resources to the community!
