Schools of Promise

Fairless Middle School (Fairless Local), Fairhope Elementary (Louisville City) and Minerva Middle School, (Minerva Local) were among the 161 "Schools of Promise" named by the state Department of Education. Schools of Promise demonstrate high achievement in reading and mathematics for all groups of students, although at least 40 percent of their students come from low-income families.

6 Stark Students Named Semifinalists
Of the 1.5 million students who take the PSAT/ NMSQT, six Stark County students are among the 16,000 that have been named semifinalsits in the National Merit Scholarship Program. Finalists will be named in February to compete for 8,400 scholarships worth $36 million. Congratulations to

Canton and Stark County Outpacing State and Nation in Degree Growth

One year estimates released by the U.S. Census Bureau on Tuesday, September 28, 2010, show both the City of Canton and all of Stark County outpacing the state and nation in college degree growth.

The 2009 American Community Survey (ACS)
[1] further indicates that Canton is rapidly closing the gap on Associate Degree attainment with both the state and nation.

The ACS is an ongoing survey by the Census Bureau designed to provide communities data on a yearly basis.
