St. Andrew's Youth News
It Doesn't Have to be Perfect
Greetings dear friends!

Our Gospel reading for this Sunday (John 17:6-19), is part of what is called Jesus' farewell discourse. Jesus has just finished washing His disciple's feet and knows Judas' and Peter's betrayal and denial are on the horizon, as well as His own crucifixion.

As I was reading Jesus' prayer, Jesus' plea on behalf of His disciples and us, it reminded me of what I imagine the prayer of a parent is for their child. Prayers for protection, safety and wisdom as you send them out into the world. It was comforting that Jesus' prayer isn't as succinct as perhaps we're used to, it rambles a bit, it reminded me of my own prayers when I don't know where to turn or what to say.

Jesus' humanness struck me as I was reading and because of that, my own reminder that I don't have to be perfect, I don't have to have all the right words all the time. We can ramble in our thoughts, prayers, and wonderings and that doesn't make them any less heard or any less holy.

Sending my love to all of you.

Please let me know what I can do to help support you and your youth.
Confirmation Class This Sunday

Our final youth and parent Confirmation class is this Sunday at 10:45 am. Don't forget your beach chair!
Youth Group Meets In-Person this Wednesday

The high school youth group will meet in-person at Bethlehem this Wednesday from 4:30-5:30 pm.

We will be meeting outside, so dress warmly and bring your beach chair or towel! The guidelines for our gatherings are as follows:

While on campus, your youth will/must:
-Wear a mask the entire time
-Practice social distancing (even if they're seeing friends outside of church gathering time)
-Those that drive, cannot mingle in the parking lot afterwards.
-Will not bring food, as that encourages mask removal. Water bottles are OK

*DO NOT send your youth if they have exhibited any symptoms or been exposed to someone with COVID-19 in the past 14 days.
*Do NOT send your youth if they have been out of state in the past 14 days

If your youth is not able to follow the guidelines above, I will have to ask them to leave immediately.

If you have questions please call my cell at 515-401-2631 or email me !
Save the Dates: Summer 2021!

As you well know, we were unable to do any youth programs or trips last summer. We are hoping, praying and planning that we will be able to take our high school youth group to camp for a week, August 1st- August 6th. We will be developing protocols alongside camp to keep everyone safe.

More information coming.
