So much to
Celebrate!

And we also share a little sadness
Dear Homer Hockey Association Members and Supporters,

This week we were scheduled to have our annual meeting. In case you are new, at this meeting we go over the past year, vote in new Board Members, and vote on any amendments to our Bylaws. Our Bylaws mandate that we hold this meeting once a year. In light of the COVID-19 restrictions, the Board has elected to postpone the meeting until such time that we can actually meet in person. You will be given at least one month notice when the date can be set.

The openings on the Board will be kept open until then so folks can continue to elect to run for open seats. Anyone who chooses to put their name in for a position will be included in the board’s communication and work so that they will be able to hit the ground running once the meeting occurs.

The Homer Hockey Association Board continues to work for you, our association and our community. The new doors are installed, grants are being researched, and the regular work that occurs this time of year will begin soon. In addition, the Board will be looking at any changes that may be needed as a result of this virus. We are planning and look forward to opening at the usual time this Fall.

Please take a look at the open Board and Support positions and give some thought to joining us.

After all, it takes a team.

Thanks,
Charlie Stewart

Kevin Bell Coach of the Year Award
***Mike Barth***

Mike does a lot for the Association and spends a lot of time and personal resources to find equipment to help kids out. Mike was coach of the HHA 12U team this season and led them to an inspired 2nd place finish in the 12U State Tournament.

He also helped coach the Glacier Girls and the 16/18U team this season. Mike brings a lot of hockey knowledge to the rink and wants to make the kids better people in the community .

Justin Adams Player of the Year Award
***Fiona Hatton***

Fiona has shown great leadership and work ethic over the season this year. Her dedication and positive attitude towards her teammates helped lead us to a State Championship this year at the 16U A level.

Her Coach can always count on her to do her job to the best of her ability on and off the ice. Hockey will take this young lady far in life, and we're all excited to see where she goes in the future.

Youth Volunteer Award
***Jordan Barrowcliff***

Jordan has been a dependable and selfless volunteer Coach..Jordan always brings a positive attitude to the ice in helping our newest skaters learn the basic skills and an enthusiasm for skating that will carry them forward in years ahead. She has been volunteering with the Microbell program for the last 2 years and has become an integral part of our coaching team.

As her confidence and maturity have grown, she has taken on more responsibility in practice. She executes any given task with enthusiasm and understands her role of supporting not only the skaters, but the head coach.  Her encouraging manner make young skaters feel at ease.  As we know, coaching 4-6 year olds, requires a lot of flexibility.  At any moment Jordan can be asked to fix a helmet, find a parent, provide emotional support to a 4 year old who has a fear of sharks during “sharks and minnows”.  With only a few words of instructions, Jordan knows how to help and what needs to be done.

The program is extremely lucky to have her and so is HHA. We hope she continues to be involved in Microbells for years to come.

CONGRATULATIONS!
