IT'S ALL PEACHY THIS WEEKEND!
25 years ago, Andrew Coolidge was approached by Jody Sodaro (Sodaro Orchards) when he was putting on an event in Yuba City. Together, Jody and Andrew built the first Peach Festival in Marysville with the help of then Recreation Dept. Director, Rebekah Miller.
Coolidge ran the event for its first eight years, drawing tens of thousands of people to Marysville and working to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for local nonprofits and community organizations.
Coolidge was born and raised in the Yuba-Sutter area and worked with community events and organizations for years. No other candidate in the race for Assembly has such deep ties and vast knowledge of so many areas of the district. Coolidge went on to be the mayor of the largest city in the District, Chico, and also served on the Chico City Council (Butte County).
Tonight, at 5:30 pm, Coolidge will receive the "Founder's Award" with Sodaro and Miller at the Peach Festival on the stage in front of The Brick Coffee House Cafe. The location is also appropriate to the honor as Coolidge is now endorsed by Former Yuba County Supervisor Don Blaser, who is the former owner of The Brick and was President of the Marysville Improvement District while Coolidge organized the event.
Former Supervisor Blaser joins three other former Yuba County Supervisors endorsing Coolidge for Assembly, including Don Schrader, John Mistler and Bill Simmons.
The Peach Festival will be held in Downtown Marysville today, July 18 from 4 to 10 pm and tomorrow, July 19 from 10 am to 10 pm. Come check it out!
