Hi Friends!
EXTRA EXTRA Read all about it!
Last week, I hosted two tours for journalists visiting for Bermuda's Art Month. The first was in the City of Hamilton, a tour I call 'A Monument. A Testament' that visits sculptures and artistic works around Bermuda's capital. The following morning, the group headed to St. George's to have breakfast, a chat and a tour with me and artists Shanna & Nahshon Hollis.
Shanna, with support from her brother Nahshon, completed a beautifully vibrant mural on the town square, called 'Unsettled Freedom', that traces the four centuries of history here in the East End. The mural was a collaborative project, led and sponsored by the Bermuda Tourism Authority, and with inputs and resources from The Corporation of St. George's, The Bermuda National Trust, and Long Story Short (aka me!). It was incredible to watch Shanna's vision come to life - if you haven't yet seen the mural, do make your way down!
Shanna, Nahshon and I talked with the visiting journalists about our role as artists, creatives, and storytellers in Bermuda culture and how excited we are by the renaissance of Bermudian art. Have a read of the resulting articles in Essence and Black Enterprise and big thank you to Jasmine Furbert, Kiwan Anderson and the Bermuda Tourism Authority team for including me!
See you in St. Gorgeous,
Kristin (and the team at Long Story Short)
