At its regularly scheduled meeting on May 22, the Laguna Beach Unified School District Board of Education opened the annual public hearing for the 2024–2027 Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) and the 2025–2026 budget overview. District staff shared key highlights from the three LCAP goals focused on college and career readiness, social-emotional development, and creating safe, inclusive schools.
The presentation outlined how progress is measured through both state and local indicators, which together provide insight into the metrics the district is required to address under California’s accountability system. State indicators include academic achievement, graduation rates, chronic absenteeism, and college and career readiness, while local indicators reflect school climate, family engagement, and access to a broad course of study. These measures guide the district’s priorities and ensure alignment with state expectations.
The district continues to support students through programs that promote TK-12 college and career readiness, student wellness, and inclusive learning environments. This includes hands-on career exploration, after-school enrichment, wellness centers, and dedicated support for students with diverse needs. Community members are encouraged to review the full LCAP presentation and provide feedback.
