Did you know there are over 80 high schools in Delaware? Consider meeting these students where they are by participating in our Delaware Principal for a Day program this October 17-21.

Our goal is to help establish stronger partnerships between businesspeople and educators. These visits allow for important discussions with school leaders and students about the types of jobs your industry needs, the required and essential skills, and the rewards a career with your company or industry will bring. The schools will be looking for a partner that could provide student or classroom supplies, possible funding or strategy development for a key initiative, or tutoring and mentoring assistance.

Finally, as we kick off a new week, this is your reminder that tomorrow is Primary Day in Delaware. Voting tomorrow matters because many elections for state representative or state senator will be decided tomorrow and not in November. Many of our state legislative districts are dominated by one political party or the other, thus the primary election really does determine the eventual winner. If you have questions about individual races, the candidates, or State Chamber endorsed candidates, please contact Tyler Micik as soon as possible.

Economic news this week kicks off tomorrow with the NFIB small-business index and the August consumer price index. On Thursday, we’ll get an early look at jobless claims, August retail sales, and the Philadelphia Fed manufacturing index for September. Data on July business inventories is also public on Thursday. We wrap up the week on Friday with the University of Michigan consumer sentiment index for September.

Earnings calls this week get started with Oracle later today, BRP on Wednesday, Adobe on Thursday, and Manchester United on Friday.
