The American Association of University Women of Vero Beach presents a Book Review Breakfast on Monday, February 5 from 9:30 to 11:30am in the Richardson Center of Indian River State College, 6511 College Lane, Vero Beach.
Lenora Ritchie, Vice President, Carter Global Consulting, will review The Librarian of Burned Books, by Brianna Labuskes.
The Librarian of Burned Books has been called a "novel that should be read by anyone and everyone who cares about books in a day and age where books and their subject matter are once again being challenged by school boards and parents throughout the county."
Inspired by the true story of the Council of Books in Wartime -- the WWII organization founded by booksellers, publishers, librarians, and authors to use books as "weapons' in the war of ideas" -- The Librarian of Burned Books is an unforgettable historical novel, a haunting love story, and a testament to the beauty, power, and goodness of the written word.

Pineapple Playhouse
Play On!
by Rick Abbot
January 12 – 28
Play On! is a rollicking comedy that takes you behind-the-scenes of a theater group struggling to put on a play amidst a flurry of hilarious misadventures. As the beleaguered director attempts to wrangle a motley crew of eccentric actors, a confused tech team, and a meddling playwright, chaos predictably ensues. Add to the mix a script that keeps changing until opening night, and you've got a madcap journey through the tumultuous world of amateur theatre. Play On! is an unpretentious, laughter-inducing tribute to the unscripted humor of life in the theater, a fun night at the playhouse.
