Chinese New Year of the Wood Snake 2025

This issue is one of our favorites of the whole year. Celebrating Chinese New Year, though not exclusively Feng Shui, blends nicely with many of our traditions and practices while allowing us to kick up our heels a bit. We also love showcasing our many professionals for their expertise and wisdom in these ancient traditions and modern living.

And we know that not all of you celebrate this holiday, but there is always something to take from this time of year to apply to your own life. For example, cleaning your house and welcoming new energy - it's a great time to do that. Hosting a reunion or family dinner to honor and enjoy loved ones - yep, you can do that too. You get the idea.

While scouring websites of our members in preparation of this issue, we came across a quote from the lovely Suzanne Roynon of Interiors Therapy, that really spoke to us: "as we approach Chinese New Year celebrations, I invite you to set free anything which is no longer serving you and take the time to draw a new, more inspiring energy into your life."

We couldn't have said it better ourselves. 😊

Enjoy and Happy Year of the Snake, the International Feng Shui Guild

"The Year of the Wood Snake in 2025 brings a transformative energy of growth, wisdom, and renewal. With the Snake’s intuitive and strategic nature combined with the wood element’s nurturing and flexible qualities, this year encourages thoughtful planning, personal development, and creativity. It’s a time to shed old patterns, embrace new opportunities, and align with your true purpose."

Predictions for 2025 the Year of the Snake

Katie Rogers of Wind Horse School of Feng Shui

"The snake is greatly misunderstood. And while it has its protective measures – venom, the death squeeze, and the like – note that the symbol for Western medicine depicts a staff with two snakes weaving up it. From a larger view, Snake brings Transformation. We use the word “healing” in this culture, but the word “transformation” is preferred in this context.

"Some people will choose fear this year – misunderstanding the true power of Snake – and will go to great lengths to avoid the change that is inevitable.

"But have you ever held a Snake? They are gentle and sensitive – their looks deceive us. They do not mean harm, and they never have. They are simply part of the circle of life, needing to eat and recharge like us all, and yes, will absolutely strike in defense."

What to Expect in 2025: The Symbolism of the Snake

Amanda Sophia of International Feng Shui School and Join Amanda Sophia

"The Year of the Snake teaches us profound self-improvement, encouraging growth from within and expanding our consciousness. It reminds us that becoming a better version of ourselves allows for greater flexibility, shedding rigidity, and embracing transformation.

"The Snake is associated with the Fire element, creating a harmonious balance. In Feng Shui, Wood nourishes Fire, allowing it to grow and thrive. This interaction enhances overall energy, fostering a supportive environment for personal growth, transformation, and dynamic progress. The harmonious relationship between Wood and Fire encourages a cycle of continuous renewal and empowerment, making it an ideal time for cultivating new opportunities and achieving inner peace."
