Share the Love with My Furry Valentine!
Are you smitten by kittens? Do you find yourself falling into puppy love?

Not everyone can adopt a pet, but anyone can send a token of their love to a shelter animal this Valentine’s Day! Your Valentine donation will help cover the costs of caring for the homeless pets here at the shelter, and will help us rescue more.

My Furry Valentine is a great way to help shelter animals. It’s also a great way to honor the animal lover in your life this Valentine’s Day. Send a Valentine to a shelter pet in honor of someone you love! Every animal you sponsor will be featured on Instagram. This additional exposure will help them find their forever homes faster (and you will see them showered with additional love).

Be sure to follow us on Instagram. We're posting spoiled pets every day!
Got Mice? Adopt a Barn Cat!
You provide shelter, food & water, and they'll do the rest!

If you’ve got a rodent problem and want to address it with natural pest control, consider adopting a Barn Cat from Kitsap Humane Society!

The Barn Cat Program is for cats who aren’t a good fit as a house pet and prefer to be outdoors, although many do become friendly with their adopters.

Many of these cats are feral or asocial. At many shelters, Barn Cats are often euthanized for being “unadoptable” as pets, but at KHS we know these pets can live well and thrive with support.

Barn Cat adopters provide their cats with a safe, fully enclosed shelter such as a barn, garage, shed, or greenhouse for a period of at least four weeks while the cats get used to their new home. This confinement period ensures that once cats are allowed to roam, they won’t wander away. After the confinement period is over, the cats will continue to have access to this shelter to help keep them safe.
New Time-Lapse Video of Our Shelter Project!
So much progress has been made since September, when construction began on our new Pet Adoption Center opening this summer. Every month in Shelter Tails, we'll share a new video to update you on our construction progress.

We're also making progress on our capital campaign fundraising goals, raising $5.6 million toward our $7.5 million goal. We've still got $1.9 million to go! If you're interested in making an investment in our new animal shelter, please contact Donor Relations Director Tom Weed or Executive Director Eric Stevens. They'd love to give you a personal tour.
Waiting for the Right Family: Meet Hinze!
Watch the video and please share it widely. We know that Hinze's forever family is out there -- please help us find them! If you're interested in Hinze, please contact Ashley at acipolletti@kitsap-humane.org
Volunteer Service: KHS Joins MLK Day of Service & Project Connect
Kitsap Humane Society works closely with volunteers to accomplish our mission, and our staff, in turn, goes out into the community as volunteers to help people and pets in need.

On Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Jan. 21, we opened our campus to groups of volunteers for national Day of Service activities. More than 20 individuals, working in groups, cleaned stocked and organized our Pet Food Pantry (right); sorted, cleaned and filled Kongs and delivered the yummy treats to shelter dogs; laminated kennel signs; and cleared and maintained our dog walking trails.

Two days later, seven KHS vet staff and volunteers provided vaccinations, food and supplies for pets belonging to homeless people at the annual Project Connect outreach event at the Salvation Army in Bremerton.

Rabies vaccines were given to 28 pets. In all 1,900 pounds of food were delivered to the Salvation Army for their clients. Our generous donors, including Earth Animal and Z Bones , provided chews and toys for pets in need.
Staff and volunteers, left, prepare to distribute food and vaccinations at the Project Connect event for pets in need. The little guy above was so grateful!
Adorable Adoptable
Meet Monkey!
Monkey is an extra-special 4-month-old kitten in need of a special adopter!

Monkey came to KHS as a baby, having suffered an injury to his spine which resulted in a loss of mobility in his rear legs. Monkey has spent months in foster care learning how to get around, and you should see him go now! This inspiring kitten has taught himself how to walk, run and even climb, and he refuses to let his disability slow him down.

Despite his wobbly walk, Monkey is just like any other playful, fun, lovable kitty, and he enjoys romping around the house chasing toys. He currently lives with other cats, dogs and rodents, and gets along well with everyone.

Monkey needs someone to give him the love and care he deserves. Can you open up your heart and home for this inspiring and charming special kitten?
Volunteer Spotlight
Meet Genaia!
Genaia began volunteering at Kitsap Humane Society in May of 2017. Since then, she has contributed over 140 hours of volunteer service!

Genaia is a regular volunteer in our Cattery, where she socializes cats and assists with cleaning kennels, often coming in on holiday closures to assist staff with caring for the animals. She also helps with laundry and dishes, and transports animals to our off-site grooming partners. She is also a key event volunteer, helping with off-site info booths and our PetsWALK and Animal Krackers fundraisers!

When asked why she volunteers at KHS, Genaia said, “I love this place and what you guys do! I’m happy to help!” Thank you, Genaia, for all you do!

Meet Our Pints for Pets Partners!
Pints for Pets is so much fun! If you haven’t joined us at one of these events, come check it out! Now in its fourth year, Pints for Pets was voted Best Local Charity Event 2018 in Sound Publishing's "Best of" Central Kitsap and Bremerton contests.

In 2018, our fantastic brewery partners and event attendees raised over $10,000 for Kitsap Humane Society and the animals in our care.

Our Pints for Pets events are every month, with KHS taking over an area brewery for a night of fun, furry friends and local brews. In 2018, we introduced monthly raffles, our Pup Crawl, and BINGO Night. Thanks to wonderful community partners and a loyal fanbase, our Pints for Pets events grow bigger each year.

While pets can't attend every Pints for Pets event, the animals are the reason people raise their glasses at these fun events!

KHS has big plans for 2019. We are partnering with many new breweries such as Crane’s Castle, who hosted our January Pints for Pets.

Our next Pints event will be BINGO Night at Arena Sports Bar and Grill on Saturday, Feb. 23. We will have fabulous prizes available and amazing raffle packages. Reservations are highly encouraged. Please call (360) 627-7515 to reserve your table.
