Empowering Athletes

11-year old Aadi has always been a confident, curious student who excels academically, and is a favorite among his teachers. His determination and competitive spirit make him the sort of kid who would thrive in the team sports leagues his classmates enjoy. But because he lives with muscular dystrophy, Aadi and his family spent years searching for a place where he could have the same chance to compete, belong, and be part of a team; opportunities his sixth grade peers take as given.

Last year, he finally found that place at BORP.

The very first time tried a BORP Power Soccer chair, Aadi experienced the thrill of speed and control he had never felt before in his daily life. Instead of watching others play from the sidelines, he was right in the middle of the action, making passes, taking shots, and playing defense. The sense of power and possibility on his face said it all. Aadi is now a regular member of our power soccer community, attending weekly practices and competing in local tournaments as part of a team.

At BORP, Aadi discovered far more than a sport. He found a place where his confidence on the court could match his confidence in the classroom. He found a community that centers adaptability, empowerment, and the belief that everyone deserves the chance to go through play.

Stories like Aadi’s show what becomes possible when young people with disabilities have access to adaptive sports and inclusive spaces that recognize their potential.

This Giving Tuesday, every gift to BORP will be doubled through a $10,000 challenge match. Your support helps ensure more members of our community can experience the freedom, confidence, and connection that Aadi discovered. Support BORP today so that no young athlete ever has to sit on the sidelines.
