MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

Among the affiliates under our large Delaware State Chamber umbrella is our Delaware Retail Council. The Retail Council, an affiliate of the National Retail Federation, provides a platform for members in that industry sector to discuss issues of importance to retailers and consumers. With Black Friday coming up and a flurry of end-of-year shopping, this is “go time” for our state’s retail sector. Delaware’s tax-free shopping status attracts customers from across the region, giving retailers a huge advantage—one that requires careful management. Finally, on behalf of our Board of Directors, Board of Governors, and the team here at the State Chamber, have a wonderful Thanksgiving. And if you happen to be working that day (police, fire, paramedics, military, retail, hospitality, transportation services, etc.), thank you for all that you do!

News You Can Use

This is a short work week, and therefore, it’s very light on economic data and company calls. Tomorrow, the S&P Case-Shiller Home Price Index and the September results will be released, along with October new home sales, and November consumer confidence numbers. Wednesday is the last day for economic news, and we’ll be looking at October durable goods orders, retail inventories, personal income and spending, and October pending home sales.

Bath & Body Works, Agilent Technologies, and Zoom Video Communications have calls today. Abercrombie & Fitch, Dell Technologies, Analog Devices, Dick’s Sporting Goods, J.M. Smucker, Kohl’s, and Titan Machinery are on tap for Tuesday, while Kroger is scheduled for Wednesday.
