Elsa is “So happy”. Because with your help she has smashed her original £2,000 fundraising target.

In this short video a delighted Elsa thanks all her supporters. She made the video fresh out of the sea after her swim on Day Six of her month-long wild sea-swimming challenge.

Elsa Cox, who was Curator of the South Georgia Museum from 2007 to 2012, is swimming in the sea off the island of Orkney, Scotland, every day throughout March. With your help, she is raising funds for SGHT in the memory of a dear friend of South Georgia, Robert (Bob) Burton.

The money Elsa raises will support a project Robert championed; the preservation and promotion of the iconic and historic Stromness whaling station Manager’s Villa, where Shackleton finally found help for his stranded crew after their ship Endurance was lost.

We're inspired by the truly historic news that Shackleton's ship Endurance has now been found by the Endurdance22 Expedition.

After Endurance was lost and the crew stranded on elephant island, Ernest Shackleton, Frank Worsley and Tom Crean made a desperate 800 mile sea and land crossing to South Georgia.
