Road "Traffic Calming" Striping

Palo Verde Road Management Board (PVRM) striped essentially a "sidewalk" area on Ribbonwood south of SanTan to just past Sunnydale Drive. This section was the worst speeding area in PV as documented by our HOA2 Safety Committee's analysis of traffic volumes and speeding.

This effort is a "test" of just one "traffic calming" option being considered by PVRM. This test is to see if this can help pedestrians feel and be safer and hopefully reduce speed of all motorized vehicles by "narrowing" the perceived width of the traveled roadway.  For PV residents, please help communicate this information to your guests and contractors as this is an effort to improve the use and safety to all.

The area between the lines and the curb is NOT a bike lane nor a golf cart lane. The intent is a designated pedestrian area. All motorized including golf carts and pedal powered transportation is to be in the center "drive" area.

The striping is also NOT a parking area. A parked car will need to straddle this line as the striped "sidewalk" area nearest the curb is less than a car's width.

Preliminary results appear positive. But the true test will be this winter as our community population and vehicles blossom. PVRM welcomes feedback as continuing this or other striping traffic calming options are being considered for PV's wider roads.

If there are questions, concerns or other feedback, please share those with PVRM President Mark Brauer at dsmbrauer@gmail.com and/or Vice-President Dennis Barber at dennis.barber.ladd@gmail.com .
