HAPA . We Are Hyde
May 2020 Newsletter
Greetings!

The global pandemic has brought about its fair share of challenges but it's also provided new opportunities to think about how we live, work, and stay connected.

We've been listening to your feedback and as a first step, we are pleased to share this alumni newsletter.

Any HAPA newsletter is only going to be as good as the stories you share with us. The Hyde community is a family and we genuinely care about one another. We want to hear how things are going, know who's in the area and help celebrate exciting moments so please email us your update and, when possible, send pictures.

We want to know:
  • Where are you now?
  • What career and hobbies are you pursuing?
  • Do you have a new family member?
  • Is there a challenge you've overcome?
  • What was your favorite Hyde memory?
  • What Hyde principles are resonating with your family today?

We look forward to connecting with one another in celebration of life's moments big and small.

I'll leave you with a closing thought from Laura Gauld '76 , President & Head of School:

As Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe said,
"Talent is nurtured in solitude; character is formed in the stormy billows of the world.
" We are in the storm but our character will see us through.
What ever we face, we face together.

Here's to valuing our past and forging our future...together.

Hyde Transitions To Teach Remote Learning
You may be wondering, how is it going at Hyde right now?

We are off and running, delivering the Hyde experience in our Hyde virtual world. Hyde students, faculty, staff, and families have embraced our new distance learning platform with great enthusiasm. Our days are spent in virtual classes, discovery groups, seminars, school meetings, family conferences, and senior evaluations. This weekend is Hyde's first virtual Spring Family Weekend and planning is underway for the Class of 2020 graduation at the end of May.

Two Hyde HAPA and veteran staff reflect on this moment:
Mary Moore , Director, Biggest Job Family Program

"Families continue to need our help (now more than ever!) We are having discovery group meetings with our students Monday-Thursday, (along with classes) Webinars at night for parents and students, and family calls with their discovery group leader on Fridays.  Students are still learning , families are still growing- even in these unusual circumstances . We are all grateful for our strong Hyde community and the dedication of our parents, faculty, staff, and fearless leader!"
Bob Felt '90 , Chief Engagement Officer

"For the last fifty years, Hyde School has been inspiring and helping families develop character to discover unique potential. As we all process this level of discomfort caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, it is crucial to recall... family comes first! Use this time to connect, engage, laugh, and appreciate those around you. Finally, remember our collective Hyde training has prepared us for leading with Character through challenging times ."
What is one thing you learned at Hyde that is serving you (and your family) right now?
