Entertainment for all ages...

This Saturday, Downtown Oneonta is all about the kids.
Merchants will be offering a variety of activities that will keep the kids happily entertained, while parents (and grandparents) get to explore some of the best shops and eateries on Main Street.

Also on Saturday, it's Family Fun Day in Norwich.

This weekend also offers families some favorite fall activities, from the Farmers Museum's Tractor Fest, to the Taste of the Catskills, to Plattepalooza in Roxbury.

And of course...
If this is October, there are an increasing array of spooky activities - with more to come!

And if you like your stories a little less spooky, but very entertaining...
On Tuesday afternoon, "Big Chuck" D'Imperio will be telling stories from his best-selling book, "A Taste of Upstate New York". The book looks at 40 food favorites from all over the Upstate region. As the fans of Big Chuck will attest, his stories are interesting and always fun.
And St James Manor is a perfect venue to hear Big's captivating storytelling. Yes, it's open to the public!

Looking for more?

We've got another week of jam-packed entertainment for you.

Enjoy it!

As always,
We'll see you back here next Thursday.

Art: Flora Hogman, Laura Provo-Parker & James Bohary
Oct 5 @ 5:00 pm - Oct 20 @ 3:00 pm Opening Reception Saturday October 5th, 5-8 pm. Flora Hogman: I suddenly by chance found it in photos of reflections in water, windows, shadows. That was how I felt I could express in this poetic, conceptual fashion my sense of the 'double reality' of a hidden child, its unreality. It led me to pictorial discoveries in pavements, the need now to express freedom, fun and invention beyond the trap of the war experience, creating meaning from various forms in my environment. James Bohary and Laura Provo-Parker: Artists James Bohary and Laura Provo-Parker present an exhibit that will demonstrate how two abstract artists who historically look internally and externally for subject matter are constricted by the boundaries of their canvas.

Their sound is edgy, but fits the mold of the legends they model themselves after; legends such as Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard, David Alan Coe and Johnny Cash to name a fraction of the many. The group puts its own spin on the songs they cover and could be accurately compared to Jamey Johnson with their original material. When describing HUMMEL'S JUG original music, it's best defined as "Outlaw Country".

Fiddlers! 26
The first snap of autumn, the vibrant colors on the mountainside, and the scent of harvest means its time for fiddling, square dancing, fine homemade food, and world renowned folk musicians in Hilt & Stella Kelly Hall at the Roxbury Arts Center. For the past quarter century we've played host to talented fiddlers from many parts of the world, from young to young at heart, from a variety of regional influences, from solo artists to many membered bands... and this year that tradition of incredible skill continues.

A Community Evolves
Through the years, from Indian gathering spot to today's tourist center, the Swart-Wilcox House has seen it all. Displays and a brief program will describe some of these changes. the Swart homestead was carved out of the wilderness after the American Revolution. It then saw the arrival of other settlers, the railroad, businesses, and two colleges. Finally, the City has become a tourist destination with baseball, soccer, and beauty attracting visitors to the area. Join us for this public presentation!
